Salon Privé London 2022. A Spectacular London Car Show.
The inaugural Salon Privé London took place at the historic Royal Hospital Chelsea from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd April 2022. This event being the sister event to the more established Salon Privé that has become a regular must attend event in September and now takes place at the beautiful and historic Blenheim Palace.
With its centrepiece Concours de Vente, blue-riband manufacturer displays and luxury retail village, Salon Privé London made a triumphant debut and attracted 16,000 visitors to the picturesque grounds of Royal Hospital Chelsea from 21-23 April.
The event opened on a glorious spring morning with no fewer than 12 automotive reveals from some of the world’s greatest marques. H.R. Owen Ferrari gave two Italian thoroughbreds their UK static debuts, with the Ferrari 296 GTB – the marque’s 819bhp plug-in hybrid supercar – being joined by the Daytona SP3. The third car in the limited-edition Icona series, the Daytona SP3 pays homage to the legendary Ferrari sports-prototypes of the 1960s.
Aston Martin Mayfair gave the DBX707, the world’s most powerful luxury SUV, its UK event debut at Salon Privé London – as did Jaguar Land Rover with its flagship Range Rover SV. The V12-engined Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost made its premiere, and Prodrive Chairman David Richards was on hand to unveil the company’s spectacular new Hunter. Developed from the Bahrain Raid Xtreme competition car that was driven by rally icon Sébastien Loeb on the Dakar, the four-wheel-drive all-terrain adventure vehicle uses a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that develops more than 600bhp.
Caton chose Salon Privé London for the global launch of its first creation: an ultra-exclusive reincarnation of the Austin-Healey 100 that blends traditional craftsmanship with OEM-grade design and engineering. Nearby on the lawns was the hand-built, zero-emissions Electric Mustang by Charge Cars, which uses cutting-edge technology to redefine the revered 1967 Fastback model.
The Tushek TS900 Apex – the lightest hybrid hypercar on the market – was revealed by the company’s founder Aljosa Tushek, whilst Morgan Motor Company gave the new Super 3 its UK event debut as part of a display that showcased its entire line-up. Making its UK show debut, Alpine unveiled the new A110S alongside the entire range, which has been updated with three distinct new versions, uprated performance, and more equipment than ever before.
Genesis took the wraps off the G60 – its first dedicated electric platform-based vehicle – while at the opposite end of the motoring spectrum was the Alfa Romeo 12C Prototipo. This Italian thoroughbred was making its debut more than 80 years after it was first conceived, and was revealed by Progetto 33 alongside a brand-new book that explores its fascinating history.
Automobili Lamborghini was represented at Royal Hospital Chelsea with Lamborghini London presenting the sensational 770bhp Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae, the pinnacle of the model’s bloodline, along with new Huracán STO and the Urus Super SUV.

Alfa Romeo 12C Prototipo
Making its public debut 81 years after it was first conceived, the long-lost Alfa Romeo 12C prototype was unveiled alongside a brand-new book telling the fascinating story of the pre-war racer.
Aston Martin DBX707
Aston Martin Mayfair gave the Aston Martin DBX707, the world’s most powerful luxury SUV, its UK event debut.
Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport
H.R. Owen Bugatti presented the public debut of Bugatti Sur Mesure’s first customer project at Salon Privé London. The unique Chiron Pur Sport is inspired by the heroics of racing driver Louis Chiron, and features brand-new exterior paint colours as well as a number of ultra-bespoke interior and exterior styling additions.
Translated as ‘tailored’, Bugatti’s Sur Mesure builds upon the marque’s distinguished history of coachbuilding, handcrafted interiors, paint finishes, embroidery and bodywork. It harnesses the collective expertise of its skilled designers and engineers to form a brand-new programme to meet growing customer demand for ultra-customised designs, materials and finishes.
Electric Mustang by Charge Cars
The highly anticipated production-intent version of the Electric Mustang by Charge Cars made its global debut at Salon Privé London, with customers able to order the EV at the event.
A hand-built, zero-emissions design icon, the brand-new Electric Mustang uses cutting-edge technology to redefine the revered 1967 Fastback model. With a new steel bodyshell, complete with the blessing of Ford, and composite body panels to minimise weight, the car’s quad-motor configuration provides 536bhp and a 0-62mph time of just 3.9 seconds.
Caton’s Austin-Healey 100
The all-new and ultra-exclusive Healey by Caton made its global public debut at Salon Privé London, as the reincarnation of the iconic Austin-Healey 100 sports car arrives at Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Healey by Caton is a unique combination of 21st-century design and engineering with traditional techniques, all of which delivers a driver’s car for the modern age. Promising an immersive, intoxicating and emotional automotive experience, the first creation from the all-new luxury British brand Caton brings the Austin-Healey 100 up to date while still protecting the ethos of the 1950s original.
A bespoke one off car, you should think of this car as a resto mod. Quite a cool looking car, but not quite our thing.
Ferrari 296 GTB
The revolutionary new Ferrari 296 GTB made its UK static debut at Salon Privé London with H.R. Owen Ferrari. The first of Maranello’s road cars with plug-in (PHEV) hybrid architecture, the 296 GTB boasts an internal combustion engine integrated with a single electric motor. With an exceptionally wide V6 design helping contribute to the car’s compact dimensions, it’s efficient and responsive – and delivers 818bhp, resulting in a 0-62mph time of only 2.9 seconds.
In addition to the 296 GTB, a Tailor Made Roma was also on display, showcasing Ferrari’s exclusive programme for customers who want to create an unmistakable, one-of-a-kind vehicle.
Range Rover SV
The new Range Rover SV, the flagship of Land Rover’s pinnacle luxury vehicle, made its UK event debut at Salon Privé London, mixing modernity and aesthetic grace to create an exquisite interpretation of the iconic SUV. IT was certainly a beautiful car.
Morgan Super 3
The all-new Morgan Super 3 made its UK show debut at Salon Privé London, as the Morgan Motor Company showcased its entire range at Royal Hospital Chelsea. Recently revealed to the press, the Super 3 continues the 113-year legacy of three-wheeled Morgan vehicles yet introduces a new product family with a design language inspired by the Jet Age.
The spectacular new Prodrive Hunter will made its UK public debut. The world’s first all-terrain hypercar has been developed from the Bahrain Raid Xtreme competition car that was driven by nine-times World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb on the world’s toughest motorsport event – the Dakar, on which he finished second overall this year.
Developed by British company, Prodrive – which boasts more than 40 years of off-road competition success – the production version of the Hunter is even more extreme than the car driven by Loeb. The 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine has been refined and retuned at Prodrive’s Banbury HQ, and its power output has been boosted by 50 percent to more than 600bhp. In order to improve driveability, the competition car’s manual sequential gearbox has been replaced by a six-speed paddle shift that can change gear in milliseconds.
Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost
Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost the purest Black Badge yet. “After considerable internal debate, Rolls-Royce announced that it would create an officially sanctioned response to a new kind of client: a permanent Bespoke treatment to its motor cars named Black Badge. These products, which were launched in 2016, would be darker in aesthetic, more urgent in personality and dramatic in material treatment. “In the five years since Black Badge became publicly available, this bold family of motor cars has come to symbolise the pinnacle of a new type of super-luxury product, setting in motion a shift across the wider luxury industry. Subsequently, nearly all luxury makers create products that seek to capture the Black Badge spirit. “Today, we announce a product that represents a new kind of Black Badge motor car, one that seizes on the minimalist, Post Opulent design treatment that has recast the legend of Ghost but amplifies and subverts it with the application of black. Our most advanced motor car yet has been reengineered to characterise the alter ego of Rolls-Royce: assertive, dynamic and potent.

Tushek TS900 Apex
Hailing from Slovenia, the updated Tushek TS900 Apex will made its global public debut for orders, as the hypercar manufacturer shows its revolutionary hybrid model.
An advanced evolution of the cars previously seen, and the lightest hybrid hypercar on the market, the Tushek TS900 Apex employs a new and patented electric drive system. Achieving perfect parity, the car possesses a power-to-weight ratio of one metric horsepower to one kilogram of mass (1:1). A landmark achievement, Tushek joins an elite handful of vaunted marques to have achieved such an engineering breakthrough.
The European unveiling of Genesis GV60, the debut of the new Korean brand’s first all-electric car. The car is on a dedicated platform, has a twin 160 kW electric motors mode and it has boost mode to add another 40 kW on demand. Genesis is a Korean brand that are extremely proud of their Korean heritage and they base a lot of their customer service around Korean hospitality, with their customers being thought of as their guests and they welcome them to their studios in Munich Zürich and London as they would welcome a guest to their home.

In my opinion this is a beautiful and luxury car for sure. If the customer service angle is to be believed, then being a customer should be a wonderful experience. I’m just not convinced that this car is big enough for the modern day family. You certainly couldn’t fit more than two adults in the back, maybe three small kids, but not big kids. So in short I believe this is a lovely car but it’s for a small family of 3 to 4 people.

Concours de Vente (cars for sale)
The innovative Concours de Vente was the centrepiece at this new motoring festival. This first-ever Concours de Vente attracted some of the world’s leading specialists, and they were united in their support for the innovative format, in which each of the 50 cars entered was also being offered for sale. The winner of the Prix d’Honneur was the Classic Motor Hub’s 1954 OSCA MT4 (above), which had competed in period at the Le Mans 24 Hours, the Mille Miglia – on which it won its class in 1956 – and the Targa Florio. Second place went to the famous Barnato Hassan Bentley (below), which was entered by Vintage Bentley. Developed by renowned engineer Walter Hassan for Woolf Barnato, it broke the Brooklands lap record several times between 1934 and 1938, and holds the Class B record in perpetuity – Oliver Bertram having lapped the banked Surrey circuit at 142.60mph.
DD Classics picked up third place courtesy of its Mercedes-Benz 300SL ‘Gullwing’ (below), which won the 1956 European Rally Championship in the hands of Walter Schock and Rolf Moll. Beautifully restored by Mercedes Stuttgart, it’s believed to be the only matching-numbers factory competition ‘Gullwing’ in existence.
The Chelsea Pensioners’ Choice went to Warren Kennedy’s 1954 Austin-Healey 100, while a 2004 Ferrari Enzo (below) entered by Furlonger Specialist Cars was given the People’s Choice award. The success of the Concours de Vente was demonstrated by the fact that more than one-third of the cars presented on the lawns were ‘under offer’ by the time the sun set on Saturday. 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso

The Ferrari 250 GT/L or ‘Lusso’ is the last evolution of the famed Ferrari 250 Berlinetta line of vehicles; one of the most beautiful cars ever made. The car was initially revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October 1962, the last vehicle to carry the iconic “250” name, carrying design and performance features from legendary cars such as the GTO and SWB.
The Lusso was instantly desired by celebrity petrol heads such as Steve McQueen and Eric Clapton. Demand outstripped supply massively, with only 350 Lussos being produced from 1962-1964; the 250 GT/L was always destined to be a future classic. Translating to English as ‘Luxury,’ the Lusso’s cabin beautifully compliments that curvaceous exterior with extensive leather, chrome and the now famous Nardi wood-rimmed wheel dominating the environment.
The 250 GT/L is powered by a 3.0 litre Columbo V12, benefiting from triple Weber carbs producing around 240 bhp. Although performance was not the key objective of the Lusso, it still lived up to the high standards of other 250-series Ferraris, capable of speeds around 150mph. Such DNA meant that the Lusso was not only one of the best-looking Ferraris ever made, but also one of the best to drive; the ultimate Grand Tourer, focused on luxury over competition.
The incredible LHD example we are pleased to offer for sale was delivered in August 1963 to Italy via the Milano dealer, M.G. Crepaldi Automobili, and was originally finished in Rosso over Pella Nera. In 2018 the car was sent to Joe Macari Classics where it underwent a full, no-expense spared restoration. Included in the work was a full bare metal respray to the stunning Blu Julie paintwork and an interior retrim in Crema leather.
The car sits today in sublime condition showing just under 31,000 miles and was recently been awarded Classiche Certification confirming its matching numbers engine. The 250 GT Lusso undoubtedly one of the finest machines for cross continental road trips or weekend drives.

1987 Porsche 959

The 959 was developed for the Group B World Rally Championship and features a vast array of suspension management systems passed through onto the production road car. This example was delivered new to Germany (C00) and currently shows just over 80,000 km from new.
2004 Ferrari Enzo

One of just thirty-one U.K. allocated cars, this Ferrari Enzo was ordered new via Maranello Sales of Egham, Surrey and collected from the Ferrari Factory in 2004. Its original owner, a well-known Ferrari collector and enthusiast had a very close relationship with Ferrari and became personal friends with many of the directors and members of the Factory and F1 team.
Proving himself a loyal customer and being a close friend and associate of Ferrari, the original owner requested a unique interior specification that featured ‘Enzo Ferrari’ stitched into the seat backrests and a diamond quilted rear panel inspired by the 250 GTO. To further compliment the Enzo’s special-order interior, the owner also requested that the 2004 Ferrari F1 team signed the reverse of the car’s bonnet. These signatures include Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Luca Di Montezemolo, Jean Todt, Ross Brawn and Nigel Stepney. Present with the car are all original books, tool kit, luggage, factory collection photos and a comprehensively documented history file dating back to 2004.
This Ferrari Enzo is a fully matching numbers and accident-free example with traceable history from new. The car has recently been scrupulously inspected within our workshops with no-expense-spared preparation for its next custodian. Accompanied by the signed bonnet and special-order interior, this poses a timely opportunity to purchase one of Ferraris most definitive, collectible, limited production cars to date, along with some very desirable and unique features.

1999 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster

Introduced in 1990 as the successor to the legendary Countach, the Lamborghini Diablo was the company’s signature 1990s model, enjoying eleven years of production through fifteen different iterations. The Diablo’s arresting aluminium coachwork was penned by the celebrated Marcelo Gandini and refined by parent company Chrysler, which had acquired Lamborghini in 1987.
The Diablo continued to employ the Countach’s ground-breaking mid/rear engine layout, utilizing a development of the prior model’s aluminium V-12, which now displaced 5.7 litres and developed 485 bhp. With a top speed of 205 mph, the Diablo joined a very select group of supercars capable of top speeds over 200 mph.
In 1992 Lamborghini laid the groundwork for an open variant with a one-off spider shown at the Geneva Salon. The idea temporarily remained a design experiment as the company prioritized power-train refinement, which most notably took shape with the appearance of the Diablo VT in 1993. Standing for viscous traction, the VT employed a version of the LM002 SUV’s all-wheel-drive system to provide superior traction and acceleration.
At the 1995 Geneva Salon, Lamborghini finally combined the two ideas, introducing a production roadster built on the VT platform. The Diablo VT roadster featured an electronically retractable soft top, as well as a revised front bumper and headlamps and new, larger OZ wheels.
Following the company’s acquisition by the VW Group three years later, the Diablo underwent a mild restyling for the 1999 model year, and power was increased to 530 bhp through the use of variable valve timing, while anti-lock brakes were integrated for the first time in a Lamborghini. Ultimately capable of reaching 208 mph, the second-generation 1999 Diablo VT roadster was built in a modest quantity of approximately 100 examples, bringing total roadster production to approximately 300 cars.
The example Joe Macari are pleased to offer for sale was delivered new to the United Kingdom, and first registered in July, 1999. The car is one of twenty right hand drive models ever made and one of just four built with “exposed headlamps”. The car is finished in Giallo Superfly over a Black leather interior and was also specified with the rear wing, sports exhausts, power clutch, gears & steering, and dual air bags.
This particular car was owned in its early years by Sir Rod Stewart, an icon of British rock music. Stewart is among the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 250 million records worldwide. He has had 10 number-one albums and 31 top ten singles in the UK. Sir Rod Stewart is also an avid petrolhead and over the years, has owned some of the finest cars in the world, most notably a Miura SV, Countach Periscopio, and a Ferrari Enzo.
Stewart cherished the car for a number of years before it was bought by the iconic mystic British wrestler Kendo Nagasaki in 2007. The car has had a small number of further owners since and has been very well cared for during its life. It sits today in fantastic condition, showing just over 21,000 miles from new and maintaining a large history file containing various servicing invoices and historic MOT certificates.
One of the most celebrated variants of the Diablo, the VT Roadster was the start of a wonderful line of Lamborghini V12 roadsters. Combining rarity, performance, looks, and an important place in Lamborghini’s history, it would make a wonderful addition to any supercar collection.

1990 Lamborghini Countach

The development of the Lamborghini Countach was initiated by Ferruccio Lamborghini with the goal of creating a successor to the Lamborghini Miura. The Countach was designed around the existing Lamborghini V12 engine in a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Named to honour the company’s twenty-fifth anniversary in 1988, the 25th Anniversary Countach, although mechanically very similar to the 5000QV, sported considerable restyling done by Horacio Pagani. Notably, enlargement and extension of the rear ‘air-box’ intake-ducts was among other refinements undertaken.
1996 Porsche 911 (993) GT2R
This Porsche 993 GT2R is a remarkable example of a legendary 1990s racer, although this particular had no known significant race history, and is believed to be one of the few undamaged competition cars of its type. It remains highly original, having evidently been carefully preserved over the years. Given its status as one of only four such 911s upgraded to 1996 GT2R specification, it will no doubt attract strong interest from Porsche collectors around the world; whether to join a wider assembly of rare models, or to get into race-ready condition and use it in prestigious historic motorsport events.

1980 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Supplied new on 8th December 1980 by AM Sales Ltd, this ‘Oscar India’ Vantage was delivered in rare and attractive Sebring Blue coachwork with dark blue hides and blue carpets to first owner Sir John Mayhew-Sanders, chairman of the engineering group ‘John Brown’ and leading spokesman for Anglo-Soviet trade at the time
Specified with a ‘state of the art’ Pioneer 9300 stereo system and graphic equalizer mounted centrally at the top of the dashboard, invoices held on file detail service work carried out by Aston Martin Works and main agent Hyde Vale until 1987, whereupon the car was sold to its third owner, a respected Aston Martin enthusiast, who entrusted maintenance of the Vantage to Autokraft LTD, famed constructors of Mk4 AC Cobra’s and superb Spyder conversions of Ferrari Daytona models, located at the Brooklands Industrial Park, Weybridge
Throughout the 1990s the Vantage was maintained by marque exponents RSW and main agents HWM with invoices on file. Between 2012-14 the Vantage benefitted from considerable expenditure with marque specialists Trinity Engineering totalling in excess of GBP 47,000 which included extensive chassis, suspension and brake system work, carried out less than 2500 miles ago. Between 2014-2018 all maintenance was entrusted to respected AM specialists Chicane with further invoices to the tune of GBP 15,000
With current odometer reading at just under 43,000 miles, this mileage can be warranted by the supporting service records and MoT certificates held on file. A true survivor with complete original coachwork, this Delahaye 135 Compétition Spéciale retains a precious fabric of originality. To look upon the many romantic photos of her early competition history, is to marvel that she remains so unaltered.
Chassis 135/47186 was ordered new in 1936 by Jacques Menier, scion of the famous Menier chocolatiers. From the family’s eight castles, including the superb Château de Chenonceau, Menier sponsored his own racing Équipe – ordering this Delahaye in the decisive year the Automobile Club de France ran its Grand Prix for sports cars not single-seaters.
The 135CS was a true all-rounder, sporting a torquey 3.6 litre straight six in a lighter box section chassis with independent front suspension. Soundly engineered, its reliability positioned the cars to profit from others’ misfortunes. Deeply beautiful coachwork promised Gallic chivalry à très grande vitesse.
Piloted by Menier’s driver Philippe Maillard-Brune, 47186 appeared in the premier French events of 1936, including the GP de l’Automobile Club de France, the GP de la Marne, and the 3 Heures de Marseille. A general strike amongst the French working class saw the 1936 Le Mans cancelled and the Équipe Menier entry came to nought, and probably due to this unrest, Menier wound up the team and the Delahaye moved on.
Acquired post-war by René Cotton, she began a remarkable second racing life, namely competing on nearly equal terms with much more modern machinery. Almost inconceivably, in the one-off sports car race for the 1952 Monaco Grand Prix, the now-16 year old 135 CS ran to an amazing eighth place, pipped only by five of the latest 225S Ferraris, a C-Type Jaguar, and nipping at the heels of young Peter Collins in a DB3 Aston. Under Cotton’s stewardship, she also raced in the 1952 Mille Miglia, in the Liège-Rome-Liège Rally, and a few other events. A highly accomplished racer, Cotton contested five Le Mans in the late fifties, and went on to lead the Citroën rally team.
Thereafter, a line of equally heroic preservationists saved this outstanding Delahaye for posterity. For well over thirty years, she remained in the French museum of Serge Pozzoli, later passing to renowned collectors Abba Kogan and Lord Anthony Bamford, who undertook a sympathetic restoration.
A highly eligible entrant for the world’s best historic racing events, this 135CS is supplied race ready with current FIVA ID and HTP papers. Fastidiously prepared under current ownership, she recently appeared in the 2020 and 2021 Mille Miglia, and 2021 Goodwood Revival.

1965 TVR Trident Prototype

This is the third of three prototype TVR Trident Coupés, designed by Trevor Fiore and hand-built in steel on stretched TVR Griffith 200 chassis by Carrozzeria Fissore of Turin in 1965. It was shown at the Turin Show in November of that year before being sent to TVR Cars, where it was dismantled and stored until 1972. Over the next decade or so it passed through the hands of several optimistic restorers before being acquired by its current owner in 1986 and finally being fully restored back to its original condition by Stirling Moss’s ex racing mechanic, Don Haldenby. This included sourcing a Ford 289 ci V8 engine with 4 barrel Holley carburettor, Borg Warner T10 gearbox and Salisbury Powr-Lok 4HU limited slip differential.

The car has recently undergone a complete strip down and respray to maintain its concours standard and eligibility for most major concours events. It has previously featured in the Cartier Style et Luxe at the Goodwood Festival Speed and Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace to name a few.
The car’s provenance has recently been verified by the TVR Car Club and more importantly in a letter from the then owner/managing director of TVR Engineering, Martin Lilley, confirming its presence at the Turin motor show in 1965 and its sale from the factory in 1972.
Having only covered 13,000 miles from new and still sporting its original Italian hand-crafted interior this car really is a once in a lifetime chance to own an exceptionally rare and beautiful carrozzeria-bodied car, the world’s only right hand drive TVR Trident Coupé.
Barnato-Hassan Brooklands racer
British specialist Vintage Bentley presented the Barnato-Hassan, one of the fastest Brooklands racers of all time and a car that once held the outright lap record for the Surrey speedbowl’s Outer Circuit.
Commissioned by ‘Bentley Boy’, Le Mans winner and former company chairman Woolf Barnato, the car was masterminded by famed engineer Walter Hassan. First raced in 1934, it featured a narrow chassis and a 6½-litre engine, but by the following year it had gained an 8-litre engine and Oliver Bertram wrestled the demanding machine around Brooklands at 142.60mph. That was a new lap record at the time, and it was still the Class B record when the track closed in 1939.
Hassan subsequently developed a narrow body with a central driving position and the Barnato-Hassan continued to race. In 1938, it lapped Brooklands at 143.11mph – only fractionally slower than John Cobb’s outright benchmark – but frustratingly it didn’t count as a new Class B record because it was set during a race.
Enthusiastically raced after the war by Keith Schellenberg, the Barnato-Hassan retains its original chassis and 8-litre engine and will be presented at Salon Privé London wearing the slimline blue bodywork with which it was raced at Brooklands.

1966 Ferrari 275 GTS

Unveiled at the 1964 Paris Salon, the Ferrari 275 GTS was launched alongside its Berlinetta sibling, carrying the same 3.3-litre V12 Colombo mounted in the front of a beautifully scultped drop-top Pininfarina body.
Replacing the 250 GT Series II Cabriolet, the 275 GTS was produced in limited numbers, mainly destined for the USA, with only 200 units being made in a short production run.
Even more exclusive than this, are the extremely rare Right Hand Drive examples of the 275 GTS, of which only 19 were produced and we are incredibly proud to be offering one of the finest examples today.
The car offered here was produced in 1966 and was ordered in RHD through Maranello Concessionaires in Egham, U.K. It was specified from new in Grigio Argento over a Pelle Nuvola interior, the same colours it wears today.
It has recently been awarded red book Classiche Certification from the Ferrari factory, confirming its matching numbers engine and gearbox. It presents extremely well and is a sound drive; yet a restoration would not be frivolous enterprise.
The Ferrari 275 GTS has been one of the fastest appreciating cars of the last 24 months and looks set to continue in this trend, not only due to its fantastic looks, but also due to exclusivity and driving pleasure. Barkaways are delighted to offer for sale this stunning, concours condition 1963 Alfa Romeo 101 Giulia Spider, which underwent a full and comprehensive restoration with them between 2014 and 2016. The car was media blasted and stripped back to bare metal being repainted in Celeste blue with the interior re-trimmed in dark blue and is presented today in its original specification. Works also included a major engine and gearbox rebuild, along with all mechanical components including brakes and suspension being replaced.
The engine bay VIN plate shows a prefix code of 10119 gd. Along with a chassis number of AR *383171, this translates to a model produced in 1963 and more specifically the Tipo 101.19. The “gd” or “guida a destra” translates to “drive on the right”. The car’s right hand drive specification is further backed by the fact that the car has the main beam dip switch on the steering column, the dash centrally displaying the light switch and cigarette lighter with the wipers, fan and panel lights controlled by toggle switches below the dash.
The engine number AR00526 *03231* relates to the factory specification capacity of 1570 cc and the raised bonnet of this car is factory correct for the 101.19 model. Just 404 RHD Giulia 1600 Spiders were produced specifically for the UK, Australian and South African market and this is a rare chance to acquire quite possibly the best example in the world today.
Most recently the car went on to win the ‘Pininfarina design’ class in the 2021 Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance.

On the Thursday that we attended at 11.45am there was a Supercar Manufacturers Parade followed at 3pm by a Concours De Vente showcase of the stunning classic cars available to purchase. There were some great viewing areas on the driveway to make sure that visitors got a close look at these rolling works of art in all their glory!
Salon Privé London promised to be London’s most exclusive automotive party, with plenty to see and do in addition to the motoring attractions. The shopping village hosted a variety of luxury brands including renowned British jeweller Boodles, Jess Collet Milliner and British perfume house, Penhaligon’s, founded in the late 1860s. Everything from Patek Philippe watches Harley-Davidsons to Bell helicopters were on display, alongside first-class hospitality for which Salon Privé has long been renowned. Louis Pommery flowed and London Essence cocktail bars offered exciting cocktails from NoMad, Louie and the Donovan Bar mixologists.
Guests enjoyed food from Michelin-starred Gymkhana, Brigadiers, BAO, The George and The Cadogan Arms, while VIP hospitality was on offer at ‘The Sloane’ – where a sumptuous three-course luncheon and Afternoon Tea was being served. Louis Pommery champagne was complemented by cocktails from The London Essence Co, and DJs kept everyone entertained into the evening.
Throughout the event, Salon Privé London raised funds for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Twenty percent of the ticket price was donated to the cause, and there was also an online auction comprising 24 lots, including a 1974 MV Agusta GT that had been generously donated by RM Sotheby’s. Supplied new to factory rider Gianfranco Bonera, it was originally built to GT specification but subsequently uprated to Sport specification. The motorcycle raised £48,000, which helped to produce a fundraising total of just over £120,000 from across the weekend. That money will be winging its way to the DEC where it will help families with emergency aid and rapid relief. #StandWithUkraine.
