The amazing Jon Shirley classic car collection.
- As part of our Fantasy Garage obsession I read with interest an article by Dennis Gray for Sports Car Digest, entitled Jon Shirley Collection – Interview and Profile. Now this guy has some great car collection, okay we mean EPIC.
Mr Shirley guided Microsoft through its initial public offering, hence he is worth a few pounds (understatement!).
He has an overwhelmingly impressive collection of vintage Ferrari‘s, Alfa Romeo‘s and significant sports racers from the 1950s and 1960s.
Some of the cars he owns include:
.
Giallo Fly 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Alloy Spyder
.
Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder
.
1949 Ferrari 166 MM Touring Barchetta (finished 1st overall at the 1949 24 Hours of Spa at the hands of Luigi Chinetti and Jean Lucas).
.
1962 Ferrari 250 GTO
.
1954 Ferrari 375 MM (a one-off Carrozzeria Scaglietti body commissioned by Robert Rosselllini).
.
Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa racing at Sears Point during the 2009 Wine Country Classic
.
Maserati 300S of Jon Shirley inside turn eleven at the 2011 Monterey Motorsports Pre-Reunion.
.
1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3 chassis number 50005 (Ex-Tazio Nuvolari).
.
1938 Alfa Romeo 8C2900 Coupe
.
1932 Alfa Romeo 8C2300 Spider
.
1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing
.
1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster
.
1954 Jaguar XK120
.
1997 F310B Ferrari F1, ex-Michael Schumacher
.
That’s by no means all his cars, but a few that stood out for me. I’m so very jealous. If you could have only one of the cars here, which one would be and why?
