This One-of-a-Kind Ferrari 512 BB ‘Wide Body’ Could Be Yours – Here’s How To Bid

A unique 1977 Ferrari 512 BB ‘Wide Body’ is set to make waves at H&H Classics’ first Cambridgeshire auction of 2025. With just 6,000 miles from new and a single owner since its commission, this rare Prancing Horse is expected to fetch between £150,000 and £170,000. The auction takes place at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford on Wednesday, 9 April.

A One-Off Masterpiece

Among the 101 UK-supplied right-hand drive examples, this Ferrari 512 BB stands apart. Notably, it was ordered new through Maranello Concessionaires. The vehicle was further modified with wider wheels, reshaped bodywork, and engine enhancements. Importantly, this work was entrusted to Maranello employee Vince Mezzullo. He consistently maintained the Ferrari 512 BB throughout its life, ultimately forming a close bond with the owner.

Finished in Rosso Chiaro with a black leather interior, the Ferrari features reworked aluminium front and rear clamshells. It also has redesigned B-to-C-post sections and larger NACA cooling ducts. Specifically, these alterations were inspired by the factory-sanctioned 512 BB Competizione models. Moreover, these models competed in the 1978 Le Mans 24 Hours.

A Collector’s Dream

John Markey, motorcar specialist at H&H Classics, describes this 512 BB as “a favourite of its long-time owner, who had a passion for Ferraris and other high-performance cars. While many came and went, this one remained a cherished part of his collection.” This Ferrari 512 BB is truly a collector’s item.

Now being offered for sale by his wife, this Ferrari presents a rare opportunity for collectors. Indeed, with ultra-low mileage and a host of bespoke enhancements, it is one of the most distinctive examples of the Berlinetta Boxer ever built.
