Keith,
No worries about the delay. I’m behind myself, with Goodwood Festival of Speed and Silverstone Classic write ups, photos, etc.
It was great wasn’t it. I thought AA World worked well.
I still think they should have the funfair next to the music stage to make the rocking and rolling better.
We went on the Friday, so missed the F40s, gutted.
I am sorry its taken so long for me to write this review as Sunday I watched the Silverstone Classic with my son & early Monday morning went on my Holiday and just got back, but still fresh in my mind the fantastic day we had at Silverstone. Loved all of the races especially the group C & World Sports Car Masters such a big field making the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. We went over to the AA world where we had a go at tyre changing & Tom got his name on the board at the F1 simulator, making his & my day. Watched the Red Devils drop in and great to see all those Ferrari F40s. Many thanks For such a great day, Keith.
Kate,
Glad you enjoyed the day. Great weekend of motorsport racing, and it’s lovely that you can get so close to the race cars, chat with the drivers, etc.
You’d have no chance of getting within 50 metres of a F1 car or driver, which sort of spoils it a little, for me at least.
Anyway, my highlights were seeing the 1960s GTs racing, always a lovely sight; the Group C cars; enjoying the venue and atmosphere with friends and just walking lazily around the place.
Next for us is the Chelsea AutoLegends, a must attend event for any motorsport fan. You could grab yourself a pair of tickets here.
It’s been donkeys years since my last visit to the Silverstone Classic, back in the Coys Historic days and blimey it’s grown.
These days there’s definitely too much to cover in one day but we had a good crack at it and the vintage shuttle buses are a godsend.
Top three of the day; 1. The parade of 77 Ferrari F40s was bonkers, 2. Being a retro girl, I didn’t want to like the new wing complex but came away really impressed and, 3. Standing IN the pitlane during driver changes – this stuff is why I don’t bother going to F1 anymore.
A big thanks to mycarheaven for the tickets, my nose is burnt and my legs are achy but a top day was had.
