Is the Jaguar E-Type really the UK’s favourite sports car?
The iconic Jaguar E-type – celebrating its 50th anniversary this year – has been voted the UK’s favourite sports car by race-goers and classic car fans in a poll conducted by Silverstone Classic fans prior to this years event.
Almost 3,000 visitors voted on the online poll, from a list of 15 hopefuls. The E-type sprinted into an early lead and at the chequered flag had claimed nearly one in four votes to beat the evergreen Morgan into second place. The brutal TVR Griffith claimed the final podium spot in third.
I’m not sure I agree with the poll itself, as it missed our so many classics that I would have included above those that they included in this poll, such as:
McLaren F1, Aston Martin DB4 Zagato, Jaguar C-Type, Jaguar D-Type, AC Ace, Aston Martin DB3S, 1957 Lister Jaguar, Lotus Elite, Mini Cooper, Jaguar XJ220, Lotus Esprit, AC 428, and I’m sure there are many more.
