Goodwood Revival 2025: Reasons This Year’s Event Was The Most Spectacular Yet

The Goodwood Revival 2025 closed another spectacular season at the historic Sussex estate in style. From thrilling races powered by sustainable fuel to heartfelt tributes and dazzling displays, the weekend once again reminded us why Goodwood remains at the heart of British motorsport culture.

A Fitting Tribute to Jim Clark

Few names in motorsport command as much respect as Jim Clark. This year’s Revival celebrated the 60th anniversary of his greatest season with a breathtaking collection of cars from his glittering career.

  • Lotus 32B, 33, 35, and 38 – gathered together for the very first time.
  • A moving ceremony with friends, family, teammates, and admirers.
  • Even sheep joined the tribute, a nod to Clark’s farming roots.

Sir Jackie Stewart accepted the Goodwood Ton Trophy on behalf of his late friend, alongside The Duchess of Richmond. Stewart and Clark still share Goodwood’s joint lap record, set in 1965.

Volkswagen’s Icon Turns 75

Each morning opened with a cheerful sight: over 100 Volkswagen Type 2 Split Screens parading around the circuit. From campers to ambulances, fire engines to transporters, the line-up showcased every facet of the beloved van’s history.

Adding a modern twist, American artist Daniel Arsham drove his uniquely wrapped Type 2, merging heritage with contemporary creativity.

Alfa Romeo: 100 Years of Racing Pride

The Revival also toasted Alfa Romeo’s long racing legacy. The centenary of their 1925 Manufacturers’ World Championship victory was marked with an extraordinary line-up of machines, including:

  • 158 ‘Alfetta’
  • Tipo 308C
  • TZ2
  • Tipo 33 prototypes

It was a rolling history lesson in Italian style and racing pedigree, capped by the 50th anniversary of Alfa’s 1975 World Sportscar Championship triumph.

Marking 80 Years Since VE Day

Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration

A highlight of the weekend, the TT Celebration featured:

  • 30 GT icons – AC Cobras, Jaguar E-Types, Porsche 904s and more.
  • Star drivers including Jacques Villeneuve, Tony Kanaan, and Jenson Button.
  • Victory for Tom Ingram and Richard Kent after a fiercely contested race.

St Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul

Packed with 1950s saloon cars like Austin A40s and Jaguar MK1s, this two-part race provided bumper-to-bumper drama. Gordon Shedden and Chris Ward clinched victory, with Ward also named Driver of the Meeting.

Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy

Motorbike fans were treated to classic two-wheeled battles, with Glen English and Steve Plater winning on a Matchless G50. Big names including Carlos Checa, Troy Bayliss, and Michael Dunlop joined the grid, making this a fan favourite.

  • Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy: Andrew Jordan and Matthew Holme triumphed in a Shelby Cobra.
  • Madgwick Cup: William Nuthall took top honours in fine style.

The Revive & Thrive Village has quickly become a cornerstone of the Revival. This year, it championed heritage skills, creativity, and sustainable living through workshops, fashion shows, and vintage shopping.

  • Dandy Wellington’s Style Stage welcomed icons like Dita Von Teese, Pattie Boyd, Penelope Tree, and Richard E. Grant.
  • Hands-on craft demonstrations led by Dominic Chinea encouraged visitors to try their hand at restoration and sewing.
  • Live DJ sets and retro markets added a vibrant edge.

The message was clear: sustainability can be stylish, and creativity thrives when tradition meets modern thinking.

  • 1962 Jaguar E-Type Competition Roadster – £143,750.

BMW Art Cars stole the spotlight with designs from Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein, Ernst Fuchs, David Hockney, and Jeff Koons on display.

Rolls-Royce Centenary

Marking 100 years of the Phantom, Rolls-Royce exhibited five key models, including His Majesty The King’s Phantom IV.

Dining and Celebrities

  • Harry Ramsden’s pop-up proved a lunchtime favourite, serving classic fish and chips.
  • Famous faces spotted included Jason Momoa, Rowan Atkinson, Dita Von Teese, James Martin, Bill Bailey, Beverley Knight, and Tim Peake.

Giving Back: Supporting King’s Trust International

This year’s Revival supported King’s Trust International, the charity founded by King Charles III. Volunteers raised funds and awareness for its mission to tackle global youth unemployment by helping young people build confidence and skills.
