The Audi e-Tron Range – A Deep Dive

The market for all-electric vehicles has expanded considerably since the early forays of major manufacturers into the field at the start of the 2010s. In 2018, Audi made their all-electric debut with the e-Tron range, a concept that had been teased as early as 2015. The e-Tron range trades in everything good about Audi, leveraging their brand pedigree as a reliable manufacturer of high-quality luxury automobiles to create a series of vehicles that meet growing demand for electric cars.

Audi e-Tron

The e-Tron is the flagship model in the e-Tron range, and Audi’s first-ever all-electric SUV. The e-Tron trades in quintessential Audi fare, offering its signature looks and interior – as well as the hi-tech features native to all contemporary Audi models, such as its proprietary MMI Navigation system and virtual cockpit.

Where the e-Tron excels, though, is its electric performance. The e-Tron utilises two electric motors, that work in concert with one another to produce an impressive 0-60 of 5.7 seconds. Charging time is also trivial, given the size of the vehicle; a quick charge can take just 50 minutes.

Audi e-Tron GT

The e-Tron GT is Audi’s sporty entry into the electric car market. While retaining a four-door design, making it a useful vehicle for executive drivers and medium-sized households, it still boasts a sleek aerodynamic design to match the power under the bonnet. The 800-volt battery provides nearly 300 miles of range, but the real stars of the show are the motors, which provide 530PS of power and a 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds.

Audi e-Tron Q4 Sportback

The e-Tron Q4 Sportback is the natural conclusion to Audi’s experimentation with all-electric SUV technology, being a stylish and contemporary entry that expounds on all of the best of the e-Trons that came before. The design is even more sleek and stylish, combining the SUV’s wheelbase with the aerodynamism of a coupé.

Here, the e-Tron’s range is extended to 320 miles, with a fast charge in less than half an hour. While the motors are a little lower-powered than other iterations, the Sportback makes up for it with lightness and the option for S-line sport suspension, giving you a much tighter overall drive.
