Lotus Emira Turbo SE: A Stunning New Flagship With More Power And Performance
Lotus has given the Emira range a significant update, introducing the Emira Turbo SE as its new performance flagship. Sitting alongside the Emira V6, the Turbo SE brings more power, sharper dynamics, and exclusive design elements. The update stays true to Lotus’s heritage of driver-focused sports cars.
A Nod to the Past, A Leap into the Future

The ‘Turbo SE’ badge is steeped in Lotus history. The original SE designation first appeared as an optional ‘Special Equipment’ package in models like the Type 14 Elite and the Elan SE Turbo. The Esprit Turbo SE, Excel SE, and Europa SE all carried the moniker. It represented enhanced performance and premium features. Now, the Emira Turbo SE follows in those footsteps. It combines modern turbocharging with the Lotus philosophy of lightweight agility.
Boosted Performance and Sharper Handling

Under the sculpted bonnet, the Emira Turbo SE houses a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine developed in partnership with AMG. This power unit now delivers 400 bhp – 40 bhp more than before – alongside 480 Nm of torque, an increase of 50 Nm. This results in a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h) and a blistering 0-62 mph time of just 4.0 seconds. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels. This ensures rapid shifts and a seamless driving experience.
Lotus has enhanced the Emira Turbo SE’s handling with the standard-fit Lotus Drivers Pack. This pack includes sports suspension, cross-drilled and ventilated two-piece brake discs, and launch control. These refinements make the Turbo SE even more engaging. Whether on a twisting B-road or the open track, it excels.
Striking Design Enhancements

The Emira Turbo SE isn’t just about performance – it makes a visual statement too. Exclusive 20-inch V-spoke forged wheels finished in Satin Grey complement the new Zinc Grey paint option. Red brake callipers, black Lotus badging, and new ‘Emira Turbo SE’ insignia further distinguish this special model.
Inside, the upgrades continue. The Alcantara headliner and premium materials create an upscale yet sporty atmosphere. Every detail has been carefully considered. The upgrades balance luxury and the focused, driver-centric feel Lotus is known for.
The Emira V6: A Naturally Aspirated Alternative

For those who prefer the character of a naturally aspirated engine, the Emira V6 remains available. A 3.5-litre supercharged V6 producing 400 bhp powers this model, and drivers can choose either a six-speed manual or an optional automatic transmission. Performance features include cross-drilled ventilated brakes, Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tyres, and a limited-slip differential (LSD) for manual versions.
The Emira V6 also carries distinct design touches. These include black technical fabric for the headlining, A-pillars, and cantrails, giving it a unique look and feel. Prices for the Emira V6 start at £92,500. Meanwhile, the Emira Turbo SE is priced from £89,500.
Made in Hethel: The Legacy Continues

Lotus builds the Emira range at its factory in Hethel, UK, like every great Lotus before it. A recent £100 million investment in the site has resulted in cutting-edge production facilities. This allows Lotus to manufacture up to 5,000 cars per year. This output is more than triple the volume of a decade ago. Consequently, Lotus has already produced more Emira models than the Esprit. The Esprit remained in production for nearly 30 years.
The Emira’s success is a testament to Lotus’s ability to blend stunning design, thrilling performance, and everyday usability. As Matt Windle, Group VP & Managing Director of Lotus Cars, explains:
“The Lotus Emira is the most accomplished road car we’ve ever built. It has the heart of a true driver’s car but offers the comfort, technology, and usability required for daily driving.”

With the addition of the Turbo SE, the Emira line-up now caters to different driving preferences. Whether you’re drawn to the high-tech turbocharged performance of the new flagship, or the raw, manual-driven experience of the V6, there’s an Emira for every enthusiast.
