6 Mods To Consider For Your 4×4

For a good reason, 4x4s are among the most well-known vehicles in the world. They’re versatile, powerful, and capable of tackling any terrain you can throw at them. However, all 4x4s aren’t created equal. Some have more power than others, some handle better than others, and some have more room for passengers and cargo than others.

The 4×4 is a rugged, versatile vehicle that can handle the demands of any terrain. It’s also the perfect vehicle for weekend trips with friends and family.

If you’re looking to upgrade your ride, here are some mods to consider:

  • Lift Kit

4x4s are excellent vehicles for getting you out of trouble while off-roading. However, the problem with them is that they can be a little too high for some people to get into or out of easily when parked up on the higher ground or in soft sand or mud.

The solution to this issue is to get a 4×4 accessories installation for a lift kit, which will lower your vehicle’s ride height so that it’s easier to get into and out of without damaging yourself in the process. There are two types of lift kits:

  • Rear-End Lifts

These are ideal if you’re looking to improve your truck’s performance. They come with several different features depending on your vehicle type. Some examples include differential drop kits, axle relocation brackets, and lower gear ratio conversions.

  • Front-End Lifts

These improve the handling of your vehicle by allowing it to sit higher off the ground when traveling at high speeds or off-roading. The most common front-end lift involves replacing your factory springs with longer ones that provide more lift than stock springs.

  • Snorkel

Installing a snorkel to your 4×4 can be a great way to increase engine airflow, which improves performance. The snorkel is a tube that protrudes from the top of the vehicle. It allows fresh air to enter the engine from above the waterline.

This is ideal for driving through deep water or boggy conditions as it allows water to pass under the vehicle rather than into it. Snorkels also help with airflow when driving on beaches or in sandy conditions, where sand can clog up your air intake.

  • Skid Plates

The last thing you would like is for your truck to get stuck in a rut and have rocks or tree limbs pierce through the floorboards and into the oil pan or transmission. While this can happen on any vehicle, it’s much more common on the trail.

Skid plates are flat metal plates typically bolted onto the bottom of a vehicle’s frame rails. These plates protect these vital parts from getting damaged while driving through rough terrains such as rocks, stumps, and other obstacles.

  • Bull Bar

The bull bar is the first thing you should install on your 4×4. It’s an essential part of any off-roading rig. A bull bar is a flat frame that extends from the front of your vehicle and protects it from damage when hitting an obstacle or another truck.

The primary purpose of a bull bar is to protect the radiator, fuel tank, engine, and other vital parts of your vehicle from damage by making contact with objects or other vehicles. Bull bars are a great addition to any 4×4 and generally can be installed in under an hour.

  • LED Lights

LED lights have grown popular in recent years. They’re more efficient, brighter, and last longer than traditional lighting systems. Many people are installing LED lights to their 4x4s to increase visibility and safety while driving at night.

So, if you’re out in the woods and want to see what’s around you, it can be challenging with just the help of your headlights alone. The front of your 4×4 is equipped with two headlights and fog light, but adding extra lights can be beneficial if you want to see more on a dark road or trail.

  • Bigger Tires

Installing larger tires on your 4×4 can be a great way to improve your vehicle’s performance. For example, if you’re looking for better fuel economy, installing larger tires can help increase your vehicle’s rolling resistance which is responsible for about 60% of the total power loss in a vehicle. A bigger tire also provides better traction because there’s more surface area gripping the road surface and less rolling resistance, which allows the vehicle to use less energy and get better gas mileage.

Final Thoughts

These 4×4 modifications are a great place to start if you want to get more out of your truck. They range from simple and affordable to more expensive and complex, so no matter what kind of budget you have, there’s something here for you. If you love your 4×4 but want it to perform even better, consider adding one or maybe more of these mods to it.
