Over 200 competitors will compete in the revival event, which caters for pre-1967 cars, on a track that is almost double the length of the course used in original sprint events of the 1950s and 1960s – the organisers believe it to be one of the most challenging and unique in the country. Here’s a little preview video which gives you a flavour of what it is all about…
As well as the competition itself, an expected 10,000 spectators can look forward to a ‘social’ Concours d’Elegance, vintage funfair and auction.
To win yourself a pair of complimentary tickets to this event just tell us which pre-1967 car you’d love to drive up the hill and why. We will draw our winners at random a few weeks before the event. Good luck. Check out our other competitions here.
For me it would have to be a pre war such as a Riley or MG might not be the quickest car up the course but would be done with class and style and being an open top means you get to see the beautiful chateau in all its glory
1960 Porsche Abarth 356B Carrera GTL 1
Got to be the 1966 Le Mans winning Ford GT40 MkII of Kiwis Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon in NZ colours.
For me there’s no contest – it’s the Beast of Turin! I must be it’s number One fan having followed its progress online for the last few years but only having had the privilege of seeing it in action once so far. The noise, the speed, the theatre, the evocative smell… need I say more!
Very nice John, the Jaguar D-Type is a beautiful classic car.
To go up the hill it has to be an open cockpit and whilst and open wheel racer is tempting I think I would opt for a 1957 D type Jaguar. Would it be the quickest, no not really, but with narrow tyres methinks it would be entertaining round the bends and all the way up it would sound epic with the six cylinder making its unique sound. A true, classic British champion in every respect.
