Win a pair of tickets to the 2017 Donington Historic Festival
Hoorah. Competition time. This time we are offering 3 readers the chance to win a pair of three-day weekend tickets to the 2017 Donington Historic Festival. How cool is that!
The Donington Historic Festival is a must attend event for any Classic Motorsport fan. You’ll see wonderful racing cars and be able to get up close to the cars and drivers, in a very relaxed environment. It’s very cool.
Whether you’re a long-time enthusiast or have never seen a historic racing car in action before, you’ll find plenty to entertain you at the Donington Historic Festival. After six very successful years the event is firmly established as a major fixture on the international historic racing calendar, attracting many thousands of spectators, hundreds of world-class historic racing cars and huge numbers of classic car club displays.
Donington Park has a fabulous history, from the days of the pre-War Silver Arrows GP cars right through to modern times, and the Festival calls upon all that history, creating a fantastic atmosphere at what is arguably the best spectator circuit in the country.
As well as watching such iconic machines fighting it out on track, spectators can wander round the race paddocks, enjoying free access and getting up close to the cars and stars. And there are always plenty of off-track attractions and live action – including legendary Group B rally cars, autojumble and memorabilia stalls, cafés, bars and food outlets – and extensive club displays of classic cars from the dozens of car clubs that create a ‘living motoring museum’ right in the heart of the infield.
To be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets, simply tell us what is your favourite racing car and why. The more you tell us the more likely you are to win…good luck.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4. is my favourite car as I always love that car.
For me it’s the Nissan Skyline R32 GTR, who conquered all in the Australian Touring Car Championship of 1991 and 1992 and earned legendary status by being christened Godzilla by the Australian motoring press.
For me it has to be the Lotus 49b, the car that changed F1 forever and (if I remember right) the first to use the iconic Cosworth V8 DFV engine that went on to win 155 races between 1967 and 1983.
I remember the development of the car from low wing to the “high wing” period and back again. Still a beautiful car that brings goosebumps when seen and heard out on track.
For me it has to be the Maserati 250F. What an epic racing car, and in my opinion one, if not the most beautiful racing cars ever.
From memory I believe there may even be one at the Donington Museum.
I’d love to win a pair of tickets to have the chance to get a close up view of this wonderful car.
I’ll have my fingers crossed.
Unsurprising to many, the McLaren MP4/4 of 1988 is my choice. Not only did it have the striking beauty and elegance that a racing car should have but it dominated against its competitors due to the powerful V6 engine and lightning fast speeds.
would love to win-marshalled virtually every Donington meeting 1981-1987 when unfortunate fatality caused my retirement-formula 2 cars especially chevron b42 b48 are my favourites,Donington is my favourite circuit Richard Evans is my favourite and in the 60/70s it was Jim Evans
FW14b – not because it was a winner, but because the technology in it was so bafflingly advanced for the time, a real technical masterpiece.
Although I am a true classic VW Beetle fan, I’m in NO way going to suggest that Herbie should be named best racing car – I think Lindsay Lohan spoilt all his street cred!!!
Instead, I will remain true to another of my favourite classics and say the historic Mini Cooper S. I just love to see them zipping at top speed whether it be on the track or gripping onto a hilltop rally style! They have such appeal and true character (and yes I will only watch the original 1969 version of The Italian Job!)
