Fiat celebrates the 60th anniversary of its iconic Fiat 500 with a 90-second film by surrealist British animator Cyriak
Here’s a very cool video by British animator Cyriak for Fiat, that celebrates the 60th anniversary of its iconic Fiat 500 with a 90-second film.
The animation, which portrays how the Fiat 500 has been a much-loved part of popular culture since 1957, premiered at the Geneva Motor Show. Fiat approached krow with a brief to mark the Fiat 500’s 60th anniversary with a celebration of its enduring style.
The film that Krow produced makes full use of Cyriak’s distinctive surreal and psychedelic animation style to tell the evolution of the Fiat 500 from its inception in 1957 to its latest incarnation in 2017: the Fiat 500-60th Limited Edition. Fiat said of the 90-second film: “We wanted to launch a set of activities to celebrate our ‘Forever Young’ icon and this film was conceived to sum up what makes this icon a never-ending myth, always reinventing itself, but also staying true to itself. Moving through the decades and crossing countries, the original Cinquino has evolved whilst always being capable of setting trends, gathering people, celebrating art and pop art, expressing joy and happiness”.
Krow Executive Creative Director Nick Hastings added: “For 60 years the Fiat 500 has had an engaging style and as its gorgeous looks have evolved, that twinkle in the eye has stayed the same. Cryriak’s surreal and irreverent creations perfectly capture what the 500 has been, and always will be”.
Enjoy…
