Our Top Ten cars from the 2015 Concours of Elegance
Of course you’ll never agree on a top ten, but we thought we’d show you our top ten cars from the 2015 Concours of Elegance, held at the wonderful Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh on 4th to 6th September 2015.
.
1. 1939 Delahaye Type 165 Figoni et Falaschi
A stunningly beautiful and unique car, it is one of only five 165s ever built, of which three survive.
.
2. 1963 ATS 2500 GTS Allemano Coupe
I’d never seen this before so it captivated me. Only 8 were built, 5 remain, making it one of the rarest two seaters in the world.
.
3. 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato
For me this is one of the most desirable, beautiful, desirable and cool cars in the world. Only 19 Zagato’s were made, of of which were racers. 2 VEV is a racing DB4 with a superb history at the top end of motor racing.
.
4. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO ex Innes Ireland
What’s there to say, it’s the most desirable car in the world, for almost all collectors and car fans. 39 made, and circa £20m+ to buy, IF you could even source one.
.
5. 1956 Maserati A6G2000 Zagato Berlinetta
Absolutely love this car. 63 were built. It’s a Beauty.
.
6. 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Short Chassis Zagato Spider
Just love everything about this car. This particular car was registered to none other than Scuderia Ferrari in Modena in 1932, and sold in 1939 to Alberto Ascari. How cool is that?
.
7. 1908 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Roi des Belges Tourer
This car is like exquisite jewellery. Gobsmackingly beautiful.
.
8. 1922 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Barker & Co Torpedo Tourer ‘Ermintrude’
What’s not to love about this. Ordered by Supermarket magnate John Sainsbury in 1921. A unique and beautiful car.
.
9. 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Vanvooren Two Seater Drophead Coupe
A unique car, with two seats only. Stunning.
.
10. 1929 Bentley ‘Blower’ Team Car No.2
The No. 2 Team Car raced at Le Mans by Captain Tim Birkin, was brought by Bentley Motors in 2000 and has been regularly campaigned across the world by the company ever since. What’s not to love? Super cool.
.
And three more that I had to include…
.
11. 1967 Ferrari NART Spyder
One of the rarest cars in the world (10 made), and most beautiful.
.
12. 2015 Touring Superleggera Berlinetta Lusso
Only 5 will be made, and made to order. Based on Ferrari’s F12, then 5000 hours from Touring, you end up with this. Great work, love it. Oh, and apparently it will go 225mph.
.
And last I thought I’d highlight the car that I thought was the most stunning car, and the one I’d like to take home, from the Club Trophy cars. I went for the Jensen 541S. Just look at it, stunning.
So there you have out thoughts. What do you think?
Did you attend the wonderful 2015 Concours of Elegance? If so, what cars really stuck in your mind or captivated your imagination?
