9 hour race to be recreated at the 2012 Goodwood Revival
The Goodwood Revival is widely regarded as the world’s most authentic historic motor race meeting. It is the only sporting event staged entirely to a period theme and most visitors play a part in the whole celebration by dressing in the fabulous vintage fashions of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
This year sees the 15th Goodwood Revival, in which the event will celebrate the life of Dan Gurney, 50 years of the AC Cobra, and 75 years since the mighty Silver Arrows of Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union first appeared.
Race-goers at this year’s Goodwood Revival (14-16 September) are in for a special treat on the evening of Friday 14 September, as Goodwood marks the 60th anniversary of the first Nine Hour race at the legendary motor circuit in 1952.
Beginning at approximately 6:15pm on Friday 14 September, the Freddie March Memorial Trophy will continue into the twilight (with sunset due around 7:15 pm), with the cars running with their headlights ablaze until around 7:45pm.
The race will feature a spectacular collection of classic sports-racing cars in the spirit of the 1952 to 1955 Goodwood Nine Hour races, including Jaguar C-type, Aston Martin DB3 and DB3S, Ferrari 750 Monza, Austin-Healey 100S, Cooper-Bristol, Cunningham C4R, Gordini, Allard and HWM.
Tickets and further information for the 2012 Goodwood Revival can be ordered by on the Goodwood website, or via the Ticket Hotline: +44 (0)1243 755055.
See you there!
Go, go, happy.
