How To Take Care Of Your Car’s Interior

No matter whether you have bought a brand new car or a used one, it is still going to have cost you a fair sum of money – cars are not cheap. Therefore, you’re going to want to take as much care of it as possible.

Cleaning the exterior is an obvious way to do this, and signing up for Cars Protection Plus will also help when it comes to repairs and engine maintenance, but what about the interior? This is an area that often gets forgotten about, even though it’s where we sit and what we see more than anything else. If you want your car’s interior to look as good as the outside, read on for some useful tips.

Clean It Every Week

If the idea of cleaning the inside of your car sounds like too much of a job, it’s probably because you’ve left it a long time between cleans. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be because you’ll be lacking in motivation and there will be more debris and dirt to clean making it a much longer and harder task.

If you get into the habit of cleaning your car’s inside every week, perhaps on a Friday evening or Sunday morning, for example, then it won’t take very long at all (perhaps 20 to 30 minutes), and the interior is always going to look pristine.

Use Specialist Cleaning Products

You could use soap and water to clean the interior of your car, and it would cost you less to do that. However, the result probably wouldn’t be quite what you’re looking for. A car’s interior is a mixture of fabric, leather, plastic, metal, and electronic parts, and if you don’t use the right specialist cleaning products for each element, you might even cause some damage.

Start by using a damp cloth to wipe away any excess dirt, and then use the relevant cleaning products for each type of material you happen to have in your vehicle. That will give you the look you want, and it will keep everything looking – and working – in the way it’s meant to as well.

Use Floor Mats

The floor of your car is sure to get dirtier than anywhere else when it comes to the interior; this is where your feet go, so any mud or stones or leaves and so on will get deposited there. One way to prevent this from being such an issue is to have floor mats in your car. When it comes time to clean the car, you simply take the mats out, give them a good shake, and clean them outside the car, while the car’s floor stays much cleaner.

You can buy car mats in different styles and colors and you can even have them personalized, so as well as protecting your car, you’re adding some of your own personality to the vehicle in this way.

Hang An Air Freshener

An air freshener is not going to keep your car clean, but it will keep it smelling fresh. If you can’t clean the interior for a few weeks for any reason, the air freshener will help to make the car feel pleasant anyway.

Of course, an air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror is only a temporary measure, but it can be a pleasant idea nonetheless, especially with the number of different scents available; there is sure to be something you like.
