The right choices can make a real difference to how a car feels to drive and how desirable it is to a future buyer, while the wrong ones can prove costly.”

1. Paint protection film 

“One of the best investments an owner can make is paint protection film. It shields the bodywork from stone chips, scratches and everyday wear, helping to keep the paintwork in showroom condition for years.

“A well-maintained finish can make a significant difference at resale, so this is often considered one of the more worthwhile upgrades available.

2. Manufacturer-approved performance upgrades 

“It’s also worth considering manufacturer-approved performance upgrades, rather than aftermarket alternatives. These are designed to work within the car’s original engineering and won’t affect the manufacturer’s warranty.

“Buyers are typically more confident purchasing a car with documented, brand-approved upgrades than one with unknown modifications.

3. Security and tracking systems 

“A quality tracking device or additional security system is another upgrade worth paying for. Beyond the obvious security benefits, it can also help reduce insurance premiums and reassure future buyers about the car’s history.

“This is a relatively small investment that can make a car more attractive and more secure throughout ownership.

4. Interior protection treatments 

“Protecting the interior is just as important as the exterior. Treatments that guard against UV damage, staining and general wear help preserve leather, trim and dashboards, particularly in a car that sees regular use.

“Storage upgrades are often overlooked, but they can be just as valuable as upgrades made to the car itself. Given that many supercar owners don’t use their vehicles as daily drivers, investing in tyre cushions, quality garage flooring, or a specialist car storage solution and cover helps protect them during periods off the road.

“The added benefit of these upgrades is that they aren’t tied to one specific car. Unlike modifications made directly to a vehicle, storage improvements can be carried over and used to protect any future car too, making them a genuinely worthwhile long-term investment.”

Upgrades to Avoid 

“On the other hand, some modifications can do more harm than good when it comes to value.
