The coolest cars for sale at the Iconic Auction at the Silverstone Festival 2025

The Silverstone Festival 2025 took place at Silverstone circuit on August 22 to Sunday, August 24, 2025. Like in previous years Iconic Auctions held a three day auction at the event. We took a walk around the cars on sale and here is what we liked best, their estimate prices and what they sold for. What do you make of the prices the cars sold for? Any car you think is exceptional value for money? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Please noted that I haven’t placed these cars in the order of preference. These are just all the cars that caught my eye.

1975 MASERATI MERAK BY SAURER – ONE OF ONE

Silverstone Festival 2025 (Maserati Merak by Saurer)

Most famous and only known bespoke coach built Maserati Merak. Truly unique, one of one, handcrafted, all-aluminium body, reimagined in 1984 by Paul Saurer of Carrosserie Saurer and presented in simply exceptional condition. A worthwhile addition to any serious collection.

Car registration number: JJH 944N
Odometer reading: 75,328
Estimate: £30,000-40,000
Sold for: £57,375

This is a super cool car and one of one. I used to know the owner – if I’d known it was for sale, I would’ve probably asked him to buy it. I would’ve been wanting to pay £30k though, to be fair, and a seller got a very strong price of £57,3750. Wow.

1984 PORSCHE 911 3.2 CARRERA (2.7 RS HOMAGE)

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1984 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera (2.7 RS Homage))

A very good homage to the legendary 2.7 RS built by Cavendish Porsche using a UK-supplied, right-hand drive 3.2 Carrera as a basis.

Car registration number: RSR 645
Odometer reading: 2,651
Estimate: £75,000–85,000
Buy now: £84,000

I love the look of these cars. But I have to say, for a replica – and with some of the panels not the best fit – £84,000 is a hell of a lot of money. Circa £40-50k I’d understand, but at £84k I don’t get it, with so many other exceptional cars in that price range. I guess you have to really love a Porsche 911 2.7 RS.

1993 BMW 850 CSI V12 (E31) – MANUAL

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1993 BMW 850CSi - front side view)

Fresh to market from 22 years of current private ownership, this V12 range-topper is one of only 138 right-hand drive cars allocated to the UK.

Car registration number: K216 YJB
Odometer reading: 121,146
Estimate: £42,000-50,000
Sold for: £48,375

That’s super strong money for a car like this, but I have to say it is in excellent condition. Possible concours condition. Looks as good as new. A very cool car.

1965 CORVETTE STINGRAY C2 CONVERTIBLE

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1965 Corvette Stingray C2 Convertible - front side view)

Fresh to market from long-term ownership, this low-owner, matching-numbers, manual gearbox, second-generation Corvette is considered one of the best C2 Convertibles in the country.

Car registration number: PNW 539C
Odometer reading: not displayed
Estimate: £45,000-55,000
Sold for: £81,000

A really cool car in my opinion. A car in excellent condition with a hardtop to boot. But £81,000, wow. That’s a hell of a lot of money for a car like that in my opinion.

1992 TOJEIRO/DAX GT40

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1992 Tojeiro DAX GT40)

A unique, DAX-based GT40, built and developed by the legendary racing car designer John Tojeiro, a man whose DNA is inextricably linked to Ford’s original GT40.

Registration number: J40 TOJ
Odometer reading: 5,621
Estimate: £45,000-50,000
Sold for: £58,000

For a GT40 replica that is not a lot of money, but it still did £8,000 over its top estimate. Maybe the market for classic cars is improving.

1978 LOTUS ESPRIT S2 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP COMMEMORATIVE JPS EDITION – FACTORY CAR #001

Silverstone Festival 2025 (Lotus Esprit JPS special 001)

Confirmed by historic Lotus Cars Ltd correspondence as the very first JPS edition produced and displayed at the 1978 Earls Court Motor Show. Since restored and offered from long-term ownership.

Registration number: MDG 228V
Odometer reading: 1,840
Estimate: £50,000-60,000
Buy now: £53,500

This could be the coolest car at the auction in my opinion. I love the black and gold paint scheme. This is chassis number one and as a collector’s car it doesn’t get much better than this.

1998 FERRARI 355 BERLINETTA – MANUAL

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1998 Ferrari 355 Berlinetta - Manual)

A UK-supplied, right-hand drive example fitted with the desirable manual gated gearbox. Fresh to market following 15 years spent off the road in professional storage.

Registration number: S1 AJB
Odometer reading: 36,938
Estimate: £60,000-70,000
Sold for: £84,375

Beautiful car. In lovely condition, as you would expect, I think that’s a pretty strong sale price for this very cool car. I’m not sure if I would’ve gone that high.

1976 ALFA ROMEO 1600 GT JUNIOR (1,962CC)

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1976 Alfa Romeo 1600GT Junior)

Fully restored and intelligently uprated, this beautiful little Alfa is on offer at a fraction of its build cost.

Car registration number: ORR 504P
Odometer reading: 87,676
Estimate: £38,000-45,000
Sold for: £54,000

A very cool car. I love all the details on these cars and love the logos. I wasn’t expecting it to be £54,000. That’s one cool car in new ownership.

1995 PORSCHE 911 (993) CARRERA RS

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1995 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera RS)

The 993 RS was undoubtedly Stuttgart’s purest and most refined form of the final-generation air-cooled 911.

Registration number: N594 KLA
Odometer reading: 47,500
Estimate: £240,000-280,000
Sold for: £230,625

I love the look of this car. However, the prices are absolutely preposterous in my opinion. I don’t get the whole Porsche hysteria. Just think of all the other cars you could buy for £200,000.

2002 PORSCHE 911 (996) GT2 CLUBSPORT

Silverstone Festival 2025 (2002 Porsche 911 (996) GT2 Clubsport)

If a 996 GT2 with the Club sport package is not the ultimate driver’s car, then it’s not far away.

Car registration number: GX02 LFP
Odometer reading: 36,203
Estimate: £80,000-100,000
Sold for: £92,250

That’s a good price for the car and probably good value. Can’t see these cars going down in price too much. Not keen on the colour black though.

2012 FERRARI 458 ITALIA

Silverstone Festival 2025 (2012 Ferrari 458 Italia)

A UK-supplied, right-hand drive example with only 8,508 miles from new. Classically presented in Rosso Corsa with black leather.

Registration number: A200 YOB
Odometer reading: 8,508
Estimate: £120,000-140,000
Sold for: £131,625

Very nice-looking car with very low mileage, so it got a strong price. A great looking car.

2017 ROLLS-ROYCE WRAITH BLACK BADGE

2017 ROLLS-ROYCE WRAITH BLACK BADGE sold at Iconic Auctions at Silverstone Festival 2025

An achingly cool genuine Black Badge with full Rolls-Royce service history, presented in a dark grey £5,000 wrap over its PPF’d original Diamond Black.

Car registration number: LH66 APV
Odometer reading: 31,042
Estimate: £120,000-140,000
Sold for: £108,563

No picture unfortunately, I must have forgot to get one (so a stock photo attached). However, it could be argued this was the best value car sold at this event. It’s a hell of a lot of car for the money and I think they look pretty cool. If you like an opulent drive, then this definitely is for you.

1978 PORSCHE 911 SC – 5,500 MILES

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1978 Porsche 911 SC)

A highly original 911 SC, returning to the market after 17 years, carefully maintained and preserved in exceptional condition throughout.

Car registration number: UJE 285S
Odometer reading: 5,451
Estimate: £65,000-75,000
Sold for: £85,500

A very cool car and one that I would like at the lower estimate price of course. It made very strong money exceeding its high estimate.

1967 LAMBORGHINI 400 GT 2+2

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2)

Elegant, practical and lauded at the time as one of the world’s best grand tourers, the 400 GT 2+2 was the perfect expression of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s original concept of creating the fastest, most comfortable and beautiful GT ever. With verifiable provenance, very low mileage and documented ownership, all of whom seemed determined to protect its DNA, #01225 is an important car in the history of an important marque.

Registration number: DFG 9
Odometer reading: 28,710
Estimate: £330,000-380,000
Car still available for an all-inclusive £360,000

This has to be one of the most beautiful. So cool. But that’s a hell of a lot of money. If you have that sort of money, it’s a great car to have in a collection for sure.

1983 RALT RT3/83 FORMULA 3 FIA – EX-EMANUELE PIRRO

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1983 Ralt RT3)

Period European Championship car with Pirro provenance, race-ready, Monaco eligibility and fresh FIA/HTP papers, presenting in outstanding condition.

Estimate: £38,000-48,000
Available at £40,000

I would be tempted if I had any idea what the cost of running it would be. Probably means I can’t afford it. It would be so cool to have such a car and race around Monaco.

2006 BRITISH AMERICAN COBRA DAYTONA COUPE REPLICA

Silverstone Festival 2025 (2006 BRITISH AMERICAN COBRA DAYTONA COUPE REPLICA)

A strikingly good-looking, 427c.i. (7-litre) V8-powered Daytona Coupé evocation on offer without reserve.

Car registration number: LG06 GDA
Odometer reading: not mentioned
Estimate: £20,000-25,000
Sold for: £48,938

A very cool car, strong money for a replica.

Sone further cars that I thought were great value for money and very cool:

1971 LAND ROVER SERIES III 109″ SAFARI WITH SANKEY TRAILER

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1971 Land Rover Defender Series III with trailer)

Beautifully presented, older restoration of a Series III ‘Safari-topped’ 109″ Station Wagon complete with a colour-coded Sankey trailer.

Registration number: MPB 939K
Odometer reading: 51,831
Estimate: £14,000-18,000
Selling: £16,312

I think that’s amazing value for money. A long-wheelbase Land Rover Defender, with trailer. If I didn’t already have a Land Rover Defender, I’d probably buy this.

1973 BMW 3.0 CSA (E9)

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1973 BMW 3.0 CSA (E9))

An increasingly rare right-hand drive CSA that has been the subject of an older restoration and still presents well.

Car registration number: AES 82L
Odometer reading: 35,833
Estimate: £28,000-36,000
Sold for: £32,625

A very cool car, and I love the colour and design.

1953 CHEVROLET GMC MODEL 3100 STEPSIDE PICK-UP

Silverstone Festival 2025 (1953 Chevrolet GMC Model 3100 Stepside Pick-Up)

Very well presented with a freshly rebuilt 5.1-litre Chevy V8 and ready for the show field, this looks like fun with a capital ‘F’.

Car registration number: DSL 196
Odometer reading: 21,408
Estimate: £15,000-20,000
Sold for: £17,438

I would seriously be tempted with a car like this if I had space and a bigger garage. So very cool.
I think this is a very cool everyday classic if you had the balls to use it every day. It’s by no means in concours condition, but I’d give it a good six or seven out of 10 for its condition.

Most astonishing car sale of the weekend

It must be this car.

2006 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 4.2 SUPERCHARGED VOGUE SE (L322) – EX-HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II

Silverstone Festival 2025 (HRM Range Rover - front side view)

Believed to be the only Supercharged L322 owned by the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Presented superbly in Tonga Green over Oxford Sand with SVO Royal modifications.

Silverstone Festival 2025 (HRM Range Rover - side view)

Car registration number: BJ06 ZGM
Odometer reading: 120,000
Estimate: £50,000-70,000
Sold for: £175,500

I’m told the seller bought the car for £12,500 some time ago. I just think it’s absolute crazy money for the car. To go £105,000 over its top estimate is bonkers. Some people have more money than sense.

An unusual car:

1974/2005 THUNDER RANCH PORSCHE 718 RSK CENTRAL-SEAT SPYDER REPLICA

1974/2005 THUNDER RANCH PORSCHE 718 RSK CENTRAL-SEAT SPYDER REPLICA for sale by Iconic Auctions at the Silverstone Festival 2025

A unique production by Thunder Ranch, this centre-steer RSK homage is a tribute to the Porsche of the same name, built by none other than Tom McBurnie of Miami Vice-Daytona Spider fame.

Registration number: N/A
Odometer reading: 0
Estimate: £45,000-55,000
Buy now: £39,500

A very cool car, looked lovely.

So there you have it. There were many more cars for sale, but these were the ones that caught my eye the most. If I had to choose one car I would like to have in my collection, if money was no object, then I would have to go for the Lamborghini. With money always being an object, I would probably have bid on the one-of-one Maserati Merak, but would’ve dropped out at £40k, so on this occasion, I would not have secured the car.
