Fascinating Design Secrets Behind Alpine’s Striking New Electric Era

In the second episode of the ‘Alpine 70 Years’ series, design takes centre stage. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how Alpine’s distinctive style continues to evolve – rooted in heritage, but built for tomorrow.

A Design Legacy, Reimagined

Alpine Silhouette – Episode 2. Antony

Alpine’s design DNA was shaped by founder Jean Rédélé, who blended elegance with engineering precision. That philosophy lives on today. In Episode 2, we visit the Alpine Design Studio with Laurens van den Acker, Chief Design Officer at Renault Group, and Antony Villain, Alpine’s VP of Design. Together, they explore how Alpine is redefining its identity without losing sight of its roots.

What stands out? There’s no attempt to simply recreate the past. Instead, there’s a clear ambition to move the brand forward. As Villain puts it: “I approached it as an enthusiast. This is a fantastic brand, and there’s everything to do with it.”

Heritage Meets High-Tech

The unmistakable Alpine logo – the arrowed ‘A’ – has been in motion since the 1960s. It’s a sleek reminder of speed, movement and the marque’s French craftsmanship. That symbol remains untouched, even as the models around it become more daring, modern and electric.

Electric power, in particular, is opening new design opportunities. It removes the constraints of traditional engine architecture, giving Alpine the freedom to experiment. The Alpenglow concept is a preview of that future. It’s bold, aerodynamic and visually striking – a true shape of things to come.

From One Model to Many

Van den Acker describes the design journey as “a growing tree.” What began with a single model is branching into a family of six or seven. Each must tell a story. Each must belong. That’s Alpine’s challenge: to build variety without losing clarity.

Conclusion: What Does the Future Hold for Alpine Design?

Alpine is clearly in a state of transformation – one that honours its past while embracing electric innovation and expressive design. The question now is: which direction will the next branch grow?

What do you think of Alpine’s evolving design language? Is the future electric and elegant? Which concept or production model stands out most to you? Share your thoughts in the comments below – we’d love to hear from you.
