The World’s Leading Truck Shows: IAA Transportation and MATS

The trucking industry is known for its impressive annual showcases that bring together innovators, enthusiasts, and professionals from around the world. Two of the most significant truck shows that stand out for their scale and influence are IAA TRANSPORTATION in Germany and the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in the United States. Both events offer a unique platform for unveiling cutting-edge technologies, fostering connections, and celebrating the trucking culture.

IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024: Driving the Future of Mobility
Held in Hannover, Germany, from September 17-22, IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 made waves with record- breaking attendance and a dazzling display of innovation. As the leading global platform for the commercial vehicle, logistics, and transport sectors, this event gathered nearly 1,700 exhibitors from 41 countries.

This year’s theme centered around climate-neutral mobility, with over 145 world premieres showcasing industry- leading innovations. Standouts included Renault Trucks, which showcased a full range of all-electric vehicles, from light commercial models to heavy-duty trucks. The highlight was the Renault Trucks E-Tech T “Diamond Echo,” a fully electric truck featuring a luminous paint job, which has already completed a 10,000-kilometer journey across seven countries. BYD also made a splash with the global debut of its BYD E-VALI, a light commercial vehicle designed for urban logistics, and the European debut of the EYT 2.0, an electric terminal tractor poised to revolutionize port operations.

Scania also showcased its latest trucks and buses at IAA 2024, featuring a wide range of diesel and alternative powertrains. Many of the trucks on display at the IAA TRANSPORTATION exhibition can be bought. For example, if you are interested in Scania show trucks, these events provide an excellent opportunity to explore the latest models and speak directly to representatives about making a purchase.
IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 clearly demonstrated the industry’s readiness to drive the future of mobility. It wasn’t just about the latest trucks—it was about the technologies and solutions that will shape transportation for years.

MATS 2024: The Heart of North American Trucking
Across the Atlantic, the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Kentucky, continues to be North America’s largest annual heavy-duty trucking event. In 2024, MATS attracted over 56,000 trucking professionals to the Kentucky Exposition Center, where they experienced the latest innovations, products, and services from 877 exhibitors spread across more than 1,000,000 square feet.
MATS is more than just a trade show—it’s a celebration of the trucking community. One of the event’s highlights was the PKY Truck Beauty Championship, where 175 of North America’s most elite show trucks competed for top honors.

In addition to the beauty contest, MATS offered 39 insightful ProTalk seminars, a lively opening breakfast discussing supply chain trends, and a variety of entertainment, including concerts and the adrenaline-fueled Winter Nationals Truck and Tractor Pull.

With a history dating back to 1972, MATS remains a key networking hub for industry professionals, where deals are made, partnerships are forged, and the future of trucking takes shape. The 2025 edition promises to be even bigger, scheduled for March 27-29.
