A Feast for the Senses: From F1 Fury to NASCAR Thunder
The thunderous roar of Formula 1 machines will echo through the picturesque Teme Valley, guaranteed to enthral. Witness the legendary Hesketh 308, the very car James Hunt piloted to victory at the 1974 International Trophy, make a triumphant return to Shelsley Walsh. The ex-Michael Schumacher Benetton B192 is set to make an appearance and captivate the history buffs. A true champion car that helped propel the young German to his first of an eventual 91 Grand Prix victories.
The show doesn’t stop there. Feast your eyes on a historic Formula 1 display featuring the Tyrrell 011. This car secured the 155th and final Grand Prix win for the Ford-Cosworth DFV engine. Share the spirit of American racing legend Dan Gurney with the Lotus 18, once raced by the transatlantic icon. Renowned designer Tony Southgate will reunite with the Shadow DN9b, a car that marked the 1979 Formula One debut of the debonair Italian ace Elio de Angelis.
American Muscle Meets British Grit: A Transatlantic Showdown
A breathtaking line-up of ten NASCAR racers, many veterans of the Bernie V8s Series, is poised to steal the show. Witness a very special ex-Kevin Harvick 2007 Chevrolet, a seasoned campaigner at legendary superspeedways like Daytona and Talladega. Gear up for the awe-inspiring sight and sound of these American powerhouses carving their way through the heart of the English countryside – an experience not to be missed!
Classic Nostalgia welcomes another American hero – Roger Penske. A Chevrolet Camaro Z28, once campaigned by “The Captain” in the Trans-Am series for his close friend Mark Donohue, will grace the Shelsley Walsh track. Driven at the event by Stuart Graham, a British hero who himself conquered the 1974 Tourist Trophy in a Camaro. This iconic car with its Sunoco livery is a powerful reminder of a golden era in American racing.
Celebrating Legends: Prodrive’s 40th Anniversary and Beyond
This year’s Classic Nostalgia event pays tribute to Prodrive, one of Britain’s most successful racing and rally teams. Witness a selection of Prodrive cars take centre stage, demonstrated by seasoned drivers like David Lapworth and Paul Howarth. Hear David Richards, Prodrive’s founder and chairman, himself express his excitement about celebrating this milestone anniversary at Shelsley Walsh.
Swedish legend Stig Blomqvist, the 1984 World Rally Champion, joins the festivities too. Alongside him will be his esteemed friend Hans-Åke Söderqvist, a motorsport mastermind who spearheaded Volvo’s program in the 1980s. The crowd-favourite Rali 22 display returns in full force, showcasing a dazzling array of cars from the fire-breathing Group B era to Group A and the awe-inspiring WRC machines. Steve Davies, the group’s founder, will get a special tribute, ensuring his legacy is honoured.
More Than Just Metal Marvels: Meet the Drivers and Authors
Classic Nostalgia isn’t just ogling at a plethora of cars; it’s about the personalities who breathe life into them. Get ready to meet Mike Wilds, reuniting with the 1978 Beaconsfield Toyota Celica he piloted in the British Saloon Car Championship. This versatile racer, with a career spanning Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 5000, and sports cars, will be signing copies of his autobiography, “Life on the Wilds Side.” Join former Formula 1 driver Bob Evans as he signs his new book, “Happy Lucky Days (BHP Publishing),” and reminisce about his racing days with BRM and Lotus.
Stuart Dent, another exciting addition to the guest list, will recount his fascinating journey in and around motorsport. He’ll also be signing copies of his book “Both Sides of the Barrier (BHP Publishing).” From sneaking onto F1 grids as a teenager to working for Autosport magazine, Dent’s book offers a unique blend of biography and stunning photographs capturing the essence of motorsport’s greatest moments and personalities.
Celebrating Heritage: From Crosslé’s Legacy to Artistic Expression
The legendary Crosslé marque takes centre stage with the final model of the 5S sports-racer on display. It will be celebrating 60 years since this giant-slayer’s debut in a major international event. 80 years ago, it was a support race for the 1964 British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. An ex-Chuck Parsons Lola T160 Can-Am car will be sharing the spotlight, a true oddity in the automotive world. And for those who appreciate true innovation, the fabulous four-wheel-drive Hepworth FF will be on display. The late David Hepworth used this remarkable car to break the 30-speed barrier at Shelsley Walsh in 1971.
Beyond the Track: A Feast for the Eyes and Soul
The festivities extend far beyond the roar of engines. The hugely popular Exhibition of Speed returns, transforming the Courtyard Barn into the “Art of Motorsport Gallery.” Witness the incredible work of a dozen talented UK automotive artists. They’ll be showcasing everything from 2D and 3D paintings to sculptures, graphics, illustrations, photography, and even mosaics. Meet the artists in person, have them sign your favourite piece, and take home a unique memento of the event.
