The Concours Classes for the London Concours 2024

The London Concours is an automotive garden party in the heart of the city, gathering together nearly 100 motoring icons, old and new, in one of London’s most beautiful historic hidden venues. The cars sit at the apex of an event brimming with fine champagne and world-class gastronomy, enjoyed with a live music soundtrack and surrounded by pop-up boutiques from sought-after luxury brands. Held across three days, the London Concours opens up the world of top-end craftsmanship in automotive and beyond, with live panel discussions, awards ceremonies and roving comperes, shining a spotlight on the passion and the heritage of the brands and vehicles on display.

This years event will be held at the HAC (Honorable Artillery Company) in central London on the Tuesday 4th (celebrating six decades of McLaren), Wednesday 5th (celebrating the Jaguar E-Type) and Thursday 6th June 2024 (Supercar day).

Here are the concours classes featuring in 2024:

.

British Racing: 1960 onwards

A look at Britain’s defining motorsport legends from the last 60 years, cars that took the fight to the established automotive marques – and won. In the hands of some of the great drivers, these machines flew the flag for Britain’s engineering ingenuity and ‘can do’ attitude, triumphing at iconic circuits and earning legions of fans in the process.

.

The Legendary V12

A symbol of both engineering excess and precision; unashamedly loud and unflinchingly powerful, the V12 engine has been the beating heart of some of the greatest and most famous cars to grace our roads. With fewer of these iconic engines being produced, our Legendary V12 class celebrates the finest cars to be powered by the inimitable engine.

.

The Hypercars

Pushing the boundaries of automotive possibility, braving new frontiers of mechanical and engineering endeavour, modern hypercars represent the pinnacle of driving performance. We bring together a formidable array of pioneering machinery, representing the awe-inspiring nature of the hypercar world.

.

The Wildcards

Some cars are simply too unique and idiosyncratic to be confined to the criteria of our feature classes. This is where our Wildcards come in; a display of truly rare and spectacular cars that exemplify the diversity of the automotive scene, each with their own specialities and story to be told.

.

Enlightened: All about the Aero

The era of pop-up headlight design – unfortunately cut short by safety regulations – gave rise to some of the most beautiful car designs ever. Streamlined and simplified, car manufacturers would come up with ever more ingenious ways of concealing the headlights, and here we pick our favourites.

.

Corvette: A Design Icon

Often overlooked for the beauty of its design, we pay homage to the Chevrolet Corvette. In its earliest iterations – particularly the C1, introduced in 1953 – it’s a veritable icon of timeless automotive design. The C2, including the ‘Stingray’ Coupé version was supposedly inspired by the Bugatti ‘Atlantic’. In this class you’ll fully appreciate the genius of its design.

.

Carnaby Street

Revisit London in the swinging sixties, when Britain led the world in music, fashion and of course, cars. We’ll assemble automotive icons that roared around London when it was firmly the centre of the cultural world – stylish machines favoured by the rich and famous: from the Jaguar E-Type to the Mini Cooper S, Aston Martin DB5 and many more; era defining cars that quickly became stars in their own right.

.

The Great Coachbuilders

A retrospective celebrating arguably the greatest coachbuilder of all: Zagato. This category will look at the avant-garde wonders dreamt up by Zagato’s automotive artisans through the decades. We’ll assemble the Lombardy based design house’s greatest hits; moving artworks, pieces of exquisite, expressive industrial design that are just as jaw-dropping today as they were when first revealed to the world.

.

Purple Reign

In this class, we take a modern twist on Henry Ford’s famous quote, welcoming cars in any colour as long as it’s purple. It remains a rare choice today but some of the most striking performance cars are finished in this shade, stretching right back to Ferraris of the 70s. We celebrate those brave souls who believed and purple, and have been rightly rewarded.

.

Now what a selection of great cars that sounds. I cannot wait for this wonderful show.
