The Amazing Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Makes its Debut at the “Auto Moto D’Epoca”

In the illustrious realm of classic cars and heritage motorbikes, the 40th international exhibition of the Heritage Auto Moto D’Epoca in Bologna will take centre stage on the 26th October 2023. Set to steal the spotlight is the regal debut of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, gracing the event as the revered patron of the Alfa Romeo Classiche services, where each of the 33 unique vehicles will receive the prestigious nod with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The new 33 Stradale, a limited run of 33 distinct masterpieces, stands as a homage to its forefather, the Tipo 33, an icon in global motorsport. Crafted in collaboration with the renowned Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, known for its exquisite craftsmanship, these handcrafted wonders echo the elegance of their lineage while introducing a modern flair. Inspired directly by the 1967 33 Stradale, these cars embody an unparalleled level of customisation, making each vehicle a bespoke work of art. The Alfa Romeo Bottega team ensured the dreams of each customer were woven into the very fabric of their car, creating a unique, personalised experience from the ground up.

Under the Alfa Romeo Classiche Heritage program, a range of services has been meticulously curated to safeguard and celebrate the rich legacy of the iconic Italian brand. These services, a testament to Alfa Romeo’s commitment to its heritage, include the Certificate of Origin, introduced in 2016. This offering allows enthusiasts to delve into the history of their beloved vehicles through meticulous documentary verification, culminating in the issuance of a certificate that captures the essence of the car’s origins and specifications.

Complementing this, the Certificate of Authenticity takes the historic vehicle through a rigorous inspection process. The specialist team, based in the Mirafiori Officine Classiche workshops or even at the customer’s doorstep, meticulously evaluates the car’s authenticity and components, ensuring it stands true to its heritage. Further enhancing the Alfa Romeo Classiche services is the Restoration Service, where the same dedicated team, responsible for the Alfa Romeo heritage collection, extends its expertise to private customers. From simple maintenance to comprehensive restoration, from diagnostics and exterior refurbishments to meticulously repairing individual mechanical and aesthetic elements, culminating in exhaustive final testing procedures.

In addition to the splendid debut of the 33 Stradale, the Bologna Motor Show will be a stage for Alfa Romeo to commemorate significant anniversaries.

60 years of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT

Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT, born into the world on the 9th of September 1963, marks its 60th anniversary with an air of elegance and distinction. This iconic vehicle emerged as the maiden creation of the state-of-the-art Arese plant, standing proudly as the initial masterpiece to grace its floors, replacing the original factory in Milan’s Portello district. This pivotal year not only witnessed the birth of the Giulia Sprint GT but also gave rise to Autodelta, transforming into the new Alfa Romeo Racing Department, heralding the triumphant return of the Biscione brand to competitive racing circuits.

Designed under the skilled hands of Bertone (though credit is due to Giugiaro, a young talent from the Turin coachbuilder), the Giulia Sprint GT unfurled its sleek coupé silhouette, becoming the rightful heir to the Giulietta legacy. Its heart beated with the rhythm of the 1.6-litre Giulia engine (1,570 cc), its essence captured within the contours of a lightweight alloy twin camshaft. Evolution took its course, leading to the birth of its siblings: the 1.3-litre (1,290 cc, GT 1300 Junior), the 1.75-litre (1,779 cc, 1750 GT Veloce), and the formidable 2.0-litre (1,962 cc, 2000 GT Veloce), each contributing to the evolution of Alfa Romeo’s engineering excellence.

Embodying its four-seater elegance, the Giulia Sprint GT showcased its impeccable lineage with its characteristic round headlights, complemented by assertive eyebrows and the iconic ‘front lip’ adorning its bonnet. This design marvel evolved over time, but its essence remained timeless. As expected from Alfa Romeo, the Giulia GT didn’t just meet expectations; it exceeded them. Its performance and precision delivered exceptional handling and road-holding capabilities that resonated with a discerning, sport-loving clientele.

At the prestigious Bologna Motor Show, a 1967 GT 1300 Junior, having earned its stripes through rigorous examination by FCA Heritage experts, will stand as a testament to Alfa Romeo’s enduring legacy of craftsmanship and innovation. Six decades on, the Giulia Sprint GT remains not just a classic car but a beacon illuminating the glorious history of automotive brilliance.

30 years of the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti ‘DTM’

Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TiDTM

In the vibrant realm of motorsport rivalries, where every roar of the engine echoes the fierce competitions, Alfa Romeo etched its name in history exactly three decades ago. Picture the scene: it was an era when Italy and Germany’s sporting clash wasn’t just on the football fields; it thundered on the tracks too, ignited by the spark of the 1970 Football World Cup semi-final.

In 1993, Alfa Corse, the pulsating heart of Alfa Romeo Casa del Biscione, embarked on a remarkable journey in the realm of touring car racing. They introduced the Alfa 155 V6 Ti ‘DTM,’ a machine that would defy conventions and set tracks ablaze. This agile beast was not just a response to the German championship; it was a testament to Italian engineering brilliance, a fusion of speed and style.

Under its hood hummed a 24-valve 2.5-litre V6 engine, an Italian marvel finely tuned to produce a symphony of power ranging from 400 to 420 horsepower, each note resonating at a thrilling 11,500 rpm. Paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox, this powerhouse roared through the racecourses, leaving behind a trail of awe and admiration.

What made this beast even more captivating was its design. The 155 V6 Ti ‘DTM,’ with its lightweight carbon fibre components and meticulously regulated aerodynamics, embodied the perfect balance between agility and stability. As the races unfolded, the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti ‘DTM’ outshone the competition, winning 12 out of the 20 races scheduled.

The driving force behind this victory parade was the unstoppable duo of Alessandro Nannini and Nicola Larini. Their mastery behind the wheel, coupled with the brilliant rankings of Francia and Danner, crowned Alfa Romeo as the DTM Champion. Three decades later, the echoes of this victory still reverberate through the annals of motorsport history, reminding us of the undeniable allure of the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti ‘DTM.’

10 years of the Alfa Romeo 4C

Alfa Romeo 4C Unica

Since its dazzling debut in 2013, the Alfa Romeo 4C has seduced the world’s sports car aficionados with its sultry curves and exhilarating performance. Now, as it reaches its 10th anniversary, the Heritage Department has crafted a unique masterpiece: the Alfa Romeo 4C Designer’s Cut.

This automotive work of art, a brainchild of Alessandro Maccolini from Alfa Romeo Centro Stile, pays homage to the essence of Italian style and the unbridled pleasure of driving embodied by the original 4C. Aptly named ‘4C Unica’ by the visionary designer himself, this bespoke creation is an ode to the Alfa Romeo legacy.

The 4C Designer’s Cut project, a distinguished chapter within the Heritage Reloaded by Creators program, brought together the vibrant Alfa Romeo community. Enthusiasts were not mere spectators; they were active participants, invited to sift through Alessandro Maccolini’s aesthetic visions via the brand’s channels, ensuring the final result echoed the desires of those who truly appreciate the art of the automobile.

But here’s the thrilling twist – this one-of-a-kind marvel, the 4C Designer’s Cut, isn’t destined for a museum or a hidden garage; it’s an invitation for passionate collectors to claim their own piece of history. This ‘instant classic’ continues to make hearts race and exemplifies the perfect blend of Italian passion and mechanical artistry, a testament to Alfa Romeo’s everlasting allure. The road, in this case, truly becomes a canvas where engineering meets emotion.

In essence, the 40th international exhibition of the Heritage Auto Moto D’Epoca in Bologna will not only celebrate the illustrious past of Alfa Romeo, but also unveil a glorious future, one where heritage meets innovation, and tradition dances gracefully with modernity.
