Historic Formula 1 Cars to Be Unleashed Around Donington Park

Get ready to experience the irresistible sounds of historic Formula One engines this April at Donington Park, as the Donington Historic Festival rolls in. This event is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1993 European GP, a race that saw Ayrton Senna mesmerise audiences with his drive in the rain, widely known as the ‘lap of the gods’. Fans can witness a collection of iconic F1 machines take to the track in a series of on-track demonstrations, transporting spectators back to the grandstands of that famous race weekend. The collection of Formula One cars set to appear includes, among others, the 1993 Benetton-Ford B193 driven by Michael Schumacher and the 1984 Toleman TG-184 that Ayrton Senna drove in the 1984 Detroit GP (below).

Besides these nostalgically charged demonstrations, there will be static displays in the race paddock featuring more F1 cars from the period. You can also take a moment to witness the exhibition in Donington Park’s Pitlane Suite, which will showcase memorabilia from 11th April 1993, along with photographs and recollections from members of the public who were present at the race itself.

The Donington Historic Festival is flourishing with on and off-track entertainment that would be a treat to any car enthusiast. This family-friendly event, offering unrivalled spectator viewing, is an excellent way to inspire the younger generation with the joys of motorsport on this Bank Holiday weekend. Apart from watching the world-class race action, historic F1 car track demonstrations, and track parades, you can also take part in open-access paddock and pitlane walks or browse through the various cars on display, courtesy of dozens of car clubs.

Discounted tickets can be purchased in advance and start at just £25 for a one-day adult (16+) entry, with reduced rates for teens aged 13-15, making it a great value day out for the family.
