What to Do With That Old, Damaged Car in Your Garage

It’s happened to all of us. That moment when you accidentally back into the mailbox, denting the car in the process. Or when a rock flies up from the pavement and chips your windshield. Sometimes, our cars just take one too many hits, and we have to face the fact that they’re damaged beyond repair. Unfortunately, the damaged car can only stay in your garage for so long before it becomes an eyesore or even a safety hazard. So, what are you supposed to do with that old beater?

You could sell it for scrap.

If your car is damaged beyond repair, you may be able to sell it for scrap metal. Even if your car isn’t worth much money, the metal can be recycled and reused. This is a good option if you’re looking to get rid of your car quickly and don’t mind getting a few bucks for it.

You could donate it to charity.

Another option is to donate your car to charity. In some cases, charities will accept cars that are in poor condition and use them for parts or even scrap metal. However, most charities prefer cars that are in good working condition so they can use them to transport people or goods. If you’re interested in donating your car to charity, research a reputable organization that will put your donation to good use.

You could sell it to a junkyard.

If you’re not interested in selling your car for scrap or donating it to charity, you could always sell it to a junkyard. Junkyards will usually pay you for your car based on the weight of the metal, and this is called junking a car

You could fix it up yourself.

If you’re handy with tools and have some time on your hands, you could try fixing up your car yourself. This option is obviously not for everyone, but if you’re up for the challenge, it could be a fun and rewarding experience. Before you start tearing your car apart, make sure you have a plan and know what you’re doing. Otherwise, you could end up making the situation worse.

You can send it to a Bodyshop for repairs.

If you’re not interested in fixing your car yourself, you can always take it to a professional Bodyshop for repairs. Bodyshops can usually fix just about any type of damage, from minor dents and scratches to major collision damage. However, this option can be quite expensive, so make sure you get a few estimates before you decide on a shop.

You could sell it to a used car dealership.

If you’re not interested in fixing up your car or selling it for scrap, you could always sell it to a used car dealership. Used car dealerships will typically pay less for a damaged car than they would for a car in good condition, but they may still be willing to take it off your hands.

These are just a few options available to you if you have a damaged car you’re looking to get rid of. Choose the option that makes the most sense for you and your situation. And, whatever you do, don’t let that old beater sit in your garage forever!
