Ferrari’s 488 GT Modificata limited edition track car revealed

The new Ferrari 488 GT Modificata is a limited edition track car which incorporates technology developed for the 488 GT3 and 488 GTE, but is exclusively for use during track days and at Ferrari Club Competizioni GT events.

The car, produced in a very limited series, will initially only be for drivers who, in recent years, have participated in Competizioni GT with Ferrari or Club Competizioni GT.

In Ferrari jargon “Modificata” means designs that have been evolved for better performance. It maximises the performance of the 488 GT3 which competes in the World Endurance Championship and the 488 GT3, dubbed the ‘queen of GT racing’ but is no longer limited by the FIA Balance of Performance restrictions.

The 488 GT Modificata has completely revamped high-downforce aerodynamics, shifting the pressure centre forward and generating higher downforce at the front without increasing overall drag giving a downforce of over 1000 kg at 230 km/h. Apart from the aluminium roof and uprights, the bodywork is entirely carbon-fibre.

The Modificata uses the 488 GTE’s suspension and a Brembo braking system featuring the low residual torque callipers fitted to world championship cars, coupled to an ABS system borrowed from the 488 GT3 Evo 2020.

The 488 GT Modificata will be admitted to Club Competizioni GT events. Which, in 2021, consists of five events on tracks such as the Virginia International Raceway, Monza, Watkins Glen, Suzuka and Nurburgring, as well as the Finali Mondiali.
