To commemorate this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard’s Silver Jubilee, Goodwood Road and Racing is producing 25 videos, each highlighting a favourite personal memory of the Duke of Richmond from 25 years of the ultimate summer garden party.
‘The King’ Comes to Goodwood
The latest addition to the Duke’s Top 25 sees royalty descend on the South Downs, with ‘The King’ Richard Petty. Arguably NASCAR’s greatest driver of all time, ‘The King’, known as much for his hats as his driving ability, made his Goodwood debut in 2006.
Petty won NASCAR’s premier championship a record seven times during a career spanning five decades, which boasted a mammoth 1184 races and 200 victories. His appearance at the Festival was hugely popular among the vast population of American motorsport fans in the UK.
Keep an eye on Goodwood’s social channels over the coming weeks as more of the Duke’s personal highlights are featured and more stories are shared from the Festival’s 25-year history.
