Do you feel the “need for speed”? Dream rides at the Classic Motor Show courtesy of Sporting Bears

The Sporting Bears Motor Club, known for its fundraising, is planning to light up this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with a trio of million pound hypercars.

The club, which is celebrating its 25th birthday this year, has now raised over £1 million for various children’s charities across the UK and will be auctioning off a thrill ride in a Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder each day at the show, raising money for the Acorn Children’s Hospice.classic-motor-show-logo

The track ride in the Porsche 918 Spyder will be auctioned off by Silverstone Auctions from the Wheeler Dealer Live Stage on Friday 14th November, while the McLaren P1 will feature in Silverstone Auctions’ sale on Saturday 15th, with the Ferrari LaFerrari available for bidding on Sunday 16th November.

The dream ride will take place in 2015 on Silverstone’s GP circuit* with FIA qualified racing driver Paul Bailey at the wheel of the supercar, provided by Horsepower Racing. The car will complete three laps of the 3.66 mile-long circuit at race speed. Passengers must be aged 16 years or older.

For those not successful in the bidding, a further six rides are up for grabs via a raffle with tickets costing just £1 each on sale from the Sporting Bears, meaning everyone can be in with a chance of the ultimate ride in these phenomenal cars.Visit the Sporting Bears website here.

Sporting Bears has become a key attraction of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show in recent years thanks to its ‘Dream Rides’ – a ten-mile ride as a passenger in one if its incredible selection of cars all owned by Sporting Bears’ members in exchange for a charitable donation.

The hypercar rides will be slightly different however, with the action being track-based rather than on the public highway, allowing the lucky passengers the opportunity to experience the full power of the trio.

The cars represent the best of the best in the hypercar world today, with values ranging from £900,000 to a cool £1.2 million each. When it comes to hypercars, it’s all about the stats and these three don’t disappoint.

The LaFerrari develops 789bhp with an additional 161bhp coming from it’s Formula-one inspired KERS system that recovers energy from the Ferrari’s brakes. The result is a car that develops a breath-taking 950bhp and 664ftlbs of torque.

Keeping up the British end of the bargain is the McLaren P1, expected to be on static display at the show, with a V8, twin-turbo petrol and electric motor combo pushing out 903bhp. It might lose the battle of bhp to the Italian, but bests it on pure pulling power, with 772ftlbs of torque being pushed through the rear wheels. The Porsche employs a similar system 875bhp and 940lbft of torque.

Whatever way you cut it these three cars represent truly incredible performance. The Sporting Bears members give their cars, time and fuel freely so that every penny raised goes to the chosen children’s charities. The Bears will, on average, give 1,000 dream rides over the three days raising between £35,000 and £40,000 plus gift aid.

For as little as £10, you can have a ride in a great British classic. If you’re looking for something ‘super’, expect to pay £100-£120. The Dream Rides is one of the most popular features of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show.

See you there…
