The top 10 most expensive car auction sales of all time.
According to Octane Magazine (February 2012) the top 10 auction sales of all time are as follows:
1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa prototype | £10,268,562 | 21 August 2011 |
1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 0714TR | £8,178,646 | 17th May 2009 |
1961 Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spider | £7,040,000 | 18th May 2008 |

1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra | £4,687,850 | 15th August 2009 |
So there you have it, four Ferrari’s, two Bugatti’s, two Mercedes-Benz, a Duesenberg and a Shelby Daytona Cobra. They are all beautiful looking cars, but if money was no object and you could find one to buy (you’d be lucky!) which one would you want the most and why?
For me it would have to be the 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Spezial Roadster, (followed closely by the 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante). The lines on the Mercedes-Benz 540K Spezial Roadster are just draw dropping, I could look at this car all day.
