2011 Supercar of the year: McLaren MP4-12C (below).
We just love the fact the McLaren are making supercars again and it looks like they are serious about taking on the established supercar manufacturers in some volume this time. Go McLaren, we salute you.
2011 Hypercar of the year: Koenigsegg Agera R (below)
0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, a theoretical top speed of approximately 275 mph (442.569 km/h, making it faster than a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, although this has not been officially verified. On September 2 during test sessions in Ängelholm the Agera R broke six world land speed records for a production car, including 0-300 km/h (0–186.4 mph) in 14.53 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 14.6 seconds set by the Bugatti Veyron. What more needs to be said.
2011 most beautiful car of the year: Ferrari 458 Italia Spider
Were there any other contenders?
2011 most desirable car of the year: Ferrari 458 Italia Spider
We’d all like any of the cars mentioned here, but for the price, looks, prestige and all round package the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider cannot be beat…yet. Ferrari have done a great job with the roof and performance has not noticeably been compromised. Awesome.
2011 most cool car of the year: BMW i8 Concept
The sooner cars like this start getting produced the better. Acceleration of 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h) in under five seconds combined with fuel consumption of under three litres per 100 kilometres (approx. 94 mpg). Very slick.
2011 most iconic car of the year: Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 (below)
It replaced the ten-year-old Murciélago, which was a beautiful looking car. It has scissor-doors, goes from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 217mph.
2011 most beautiful concept car of the year: Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid (below)
This supercar concept we leant is to go into limited production for an eye-watering £672,000. Wow, we’ll have three. Porsche claim the 918 is faster round the Nürburgring than the Carerra GT by 2 seconds, with 62mph acceleration in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph.
2011 “we cannot wait for it”: SSC Tuatara (below)
0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds. They reckon a top speed of 275 mph. Let’s wait and see. What is sure it is a beautiful looking hypercar. Oh, you also get a 2 Year warranty (24,000 Miles), if you can afford to buy one.
Do you have a different opinion? Who do you think should have been awarded top spot? As always we’d love to get your opinion.
