Win a pair of tickets to the 2018 Concours of Elegance

The Concours of Elegance really is one of our very favourite classic car shows, and we would never what to miss it. So it gives us great pleasure to be offering 3 of our lucky readers the chance to win a pair to complimentary tickets to the 2018 event. So be quick and enter now.

Some would say this is a unique event, some would say it’s a “not to be missed” event, some would say it’s the best classic car event in the UK, if not the world, and we believe it would be hard to argue against this. I can tell you one thing, of all the events that we attend yearly, and in all our life (to date) this event is the one I will bend over backwards to always attend. The venues are unparalleled (properties of the British Royal family), the cars on show exquisite (and often so rare only 1 exists), the event is not overcrowded (well to date at least), it is just a wonderful event and day out.

Well this years event will be held at the wonderful Hampton Court Palace on 31st August to 2nd September 2018. This is one of, if not the premier UK Classic Car Shows, the ultimate UK Concours of Elegance. This year is the 7th holding of the event.

You could even drop a picture on our facebook page if you so wished so we can all take a look. Check out this Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Taj Mahal from last years even (below). Originally owned by the Maharaja of Nabha, it features a larger fuel tank, a louvered bonnet and a special tropical electrical system, all specified for its first role in life as a demonstrator for the Bombay Rolls-Royce sales office. The Silver Ghost will now compete in the main Concours display at Concours of Elegance 2018.

The most unusual classic car we’ve seen is Nick Mason’s Ferrari 250 GTO at Goodwood this year. Arguably the most beautiful Ferrari ever made and one of the worlds most expensive – amazing!

As a Ferrari fan seeing the one of a kind Roadster version of the Testarossa at Windsor Castle in 2016 was a treat… Would love to see the Ferrari’s this year at Hampton Court…

I have no idea of the name and year of the car I saw and like! It drove pass me and did not have the time to look at it. But would love to see it again and take a spin .

The most unusual (and extraordinary) car that I have seen was at the 2017 Concours of Elegance. It was a stunning 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. The detail of the restoration (which has been documented elsewhere) was incredible. If you ever see, it spend a few minutes looking at it (especially the petrol cap!)

Over the years I’ve seen some strange vehicles, but one I saw last year is still going strong………well sort of.
Its a car one wouldn’t really associate with being suitable to run in a rally, let alone the Dakar Rally and this was when it was the real Dakar Rally , before it was moved to South America in 2009.
And the car, well is a 1963 2CV and was run in the very last Africa based rally, in 2007. Its power was increased by introducing two Citroen Visa (remember those?) engines, which lifter the power to a heady 100bhp!
Three brothers, George, Philippe and Giles Marques entered the car after beefing up the suspension etc., but not too surprisingly it failed to finish and retired on the fourth stage with rear suspension failure.
Ive posted a picture of the car which was taken at the 2017 FOS where it did complete the rally stage.
